Hello, New to this site and just trawled through the thirty pages. I have a "05" plate TDI. My booster heater stopped working a while back. When the car went in for it's MoT I asked the dealer to have a look. They reported that the computer had received three error codes so shut the system down. They had reset it and suggested I just tried it. There was no charge for the work so I can't complain. A couple of weeks ago just after I parked the car two people pointed out my car appeared to be alight. White smoke was coming from the booster heater area so I just assumed it was steam. The car didn't burst into flames! Now it's packed up again so I suspect the computer has reached the error code trigger threshold. Questions. Can I reset the computer or must it be done by people with the right equipment? Would I be right in thinking from this thread it may simply be a glow plug issue? How many different error codes are there? Thanks in advance. Graham.
