Hi - Thanks both for the helpful replies! Ford dealer really was rubbish! Am I right in thinking the Galaxy (2.3 - 99/V-Reg) is really more VW than Ford - at least so far as keys etc are concerned? Is the vag-com referred to a software package to interact with the car? Are there independent garages / enthusiasts with it? If so, any suggestions on how I find one near Worcestershire? Also - Any idea where the number would be on the locks / plate? Many thanks Suzi's Frustrated Hubby!

My wife has just lost her only working key for her V reg Galaxy. She did have a working remote key too, but the transponder chip fell out and by the time she realised, there was no chance of finding it. We bought the car second hand, when it was about 2 years old - but were not given the 'red' key (and didn't know there should have been one). This key has also now apparently gone missing as well, but may still be findable. Our local Ford dealer says we need to try to find who the original dealer was and contact them to see if they can supply the key code / reference number. Then we need to get a company in Bolton(?) to provide and cut a full set of three keys, which can then be programmed for about
