  9. Hi All - i have an problem with my alternator on my TDI 1.9 AUY 2003 Galaxy, its only giving 9.1v. i can not see the where the part number is - and there seems to be no why to check online - can anyone advise how i get the correct number? Do i attempt to look at / repair the unit (ie the rectifier) or just replace with a new or refurb unit? ( only just replace the clutch pulley too ;) ) Many Thanks Gary
  10. Hi. I had the same problem and turned out to be a faulty alternator clutch pulley. Originally changed the tensioner. It's worth checking that especially if you have squealing sounds. Thanks
  11. Is it a constant regular flah or more flickering on and off?
  12. Common problem is the hand brake not releasing fully. Happened on mine. Thanks.
  13. Take it you can not use the same cable that you use for vagcom? I.e. The USB type from flea bay. Thanks
  14. Great instructions Paul, very useful. Thank you.
  15. Hi. I had the same issue last week Replaced the alternator clutch pulley and tensioner. All good now. Like phil said test and see how you get on.
  16. Have you checked your glow plugs and MAF ?
  17. Hi. With vag com ensure you are testing the port and get the ok return from the software. (if your using vista on your laptop that can be a pain, I got hold of a xp unit worked perfectly) Once you get the ok you should be able to just select the modules you need. In this case the engine. I suspect that you will have sticking vanes on the turbo causing the car to go into limp mode, restarting clears the ecu. Its a common problem on the tdi. (see FAQ and also search the forum plenty of info) I had the exact same problem on mine with the caravan, I had not had the car that long, was unsure of the history, so have given the car a number of oil and filter changes! Some italian tuneups, keep the car services regular and have not had the issue for a while now. Vagcom should report something like negative pressure deviation or something like that - save and clear the codes as you don't know how old they are! Then if it happens again you can check the code knowing it's for the latest event. Where are based? Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on
  18. Has the temp gauge been working correctly? I had a similar issue and turned out to be a faulty temp sensor. Caused the Gal to fast idle.

  23. Hi All I need to place the alternator pulley on my gal tdi. Have found a replacement on eBay but before I buy it just looking for confirmation of they correct tool needed and what is a good price? There are a number of tools for ford/vw but are different sizes :( If the cost of both is near the cost of a refurb alternator is it worth me just replacing the lot? If anyone has a tool that they would be wiling to lend I would be more than happy to cover costs and pay a dposit to cover the cost of the tool ? (just an idea :) ) Many Thanks Gobosoft
  24. Why are you changingbthe pipes? Thanks.
