  1. Hi Radiotwo - mechanic had a good look and could not pin point the problem, he suggested rebleeding the fluid as a possible cause might be air in the line that could expand / contract in various temperature conditions causing the non permanent brake binding. Will keep an eye on this one and post the result here. thanks V1
  2. Hi - have'nt visited this forum for a while "hope you folks are all well" :16: I have just recently encountered a brake binding problem, it is noticably after driving for a while, happened last night when I got stuck in heavy traffic for an hour, results in me having to add more revs to the engine to move after stopping and feels as if the hand brake is on, it was also raining (dont know if this has any bearing on this).I have had the rear brake discs and pads fitted about 10 months ago and the front discs and pads fitted a month ago, braking otherwise seems fine and it also just passed the MOT without any issues. I spoke to my mechanic who suspect that the calipers might require replacement  . Have any of you members had a similar problem and what was the suspect component? What course of action should I take? any suggestions gratefully received. Thank you in advance V1
  3. Correct me if I am wrong - but does the replacement fuel filter require to be topped up with fuel before fitting? :)
  4. I wonder if the site moderators could add a section where one could post comments on good and bad independants / garages nationally ie type of service received their level of specialist knowledge, honesty and charges. ;) I admit that I have exprienced far too many rip off merchants out there, the worst of the lot are those that dont have the specialist knowledge required (well one can add Frauds to this as well) but still take on the job knowing very well that it is going to cost you a fortune for their trial and error methods of fixing the problem  ... if they fix it!! What are your views guys? regards Victor
  5. Marauder - all visible pipes seem in order, where about might this Vac solenoid be? Dunny - No engine check lights of any sorts showing <_< Codfly - I am not sure about the MAF, but what else exactly do I ask my local garage to look at first or replace  , I dont want to take it to Frauds (for obvious reasons!) thanks again for your responses Victor
  6. Hi again everyone! Here we go with yet another turbo or torque loss problem :) , it was all fine up until last week when it suddenly started to stumble at 2500rpm+ with no turbo kicking in, however after a couple of days even the stumble disappeared with total loss of turbo. I have tried disconnected the MAF sensor and this seems to make it somewhat worse with further reduction in power. Have any of you encountered this stumble in place of turbo kicking in? Could this be the MAF - should I get it changed :) ? any advise gratefully appreaciated. regards Victor
  7. Just answered my question by doing a 'relay 30' search  , however can some one tell me, does this relay exist in my TDI if so what is it called and are the expected symptons identical to petrol engines? many thanks Victor
  8. Just to recap - can the MAF sensor in a TDI be cleaned or does it always have to be replaced with a new one  Thanks Victor
  9. Hi - excuse my ignorance :o , what is a number 30 relay, where is it located and how did you pin point the problem to this part  Thanks again Victor
  10. Hi - wonder if any one can help with this one, it is a sort of rythmic ticking (almost twice the frequency of a loud analoge clock and sounds as if coming from the passenger side in front. This ticking is present during startup first thing on a cold morning, this lasts a good half an hour of driving and the ticking gradually dies down to nothing, until the next morning. The ticking is independant of the engine revs. Any suggestions :D ? many thanks - Victor
  11. Hi all - I am new to this forum (stumbled on it by chance), live in Bexley / Dartford area, purchased my Ford Galaxy last November'04, I had it recently serviced by an independant mechanic and collected with damaged sills  ...and just realised from others he is a 'Cowboy' with a know it and fix it all approach. I now need to get the Cambelt changed (48000 miles on the clock). Does any one know of a reputable garage with Glaxy repair exprience in this area? or a reputable main dealer who will not rip me off? thanks in advance Victor
