  1. Unfortunately it was very bad. The water has caused so much rust and corrosion that two wires broke at the pin
  2. Just threw some water over the window and saw that the water is entering from the window seal bear the wing mirror.
  3. I'm in total shock here. I reopened my new drivers door gator plug connector at the door hinge side and it's filled with water. Pulled the rubber gator back and there's water there too. Completely ruined £160. Where the hell has this water come from? My drivers door lock is broken and has the metal plate missing, could water have got in from there?
  4. Ok replaced the fuss and still nothing. I give up lol.
  5. Ok inspected all remaining doors including boot lid wires and no broken wires. I did however find that a fuse for the right side (drivers side) alarm function was partially melted. Unfortunately I had no fuses of that size so I'll replace that today later at some point and see how I get on.
  6. I'll have a check of those tomorrow
  7. No I didn't think they'd affect the drivers door and fuel flap.
  8. Hi guys I have 2005 galaxy and lately I have a bit of a problem with the drivers door lock. Now before I begin I'll clarify that I replaced the drivers door wiring loom ( in December 2016) with a brand new one from the stealers as my original repair from 3 years ago failed and kept blowing out a fuse despite attempts to re-repair. After replacing the loom the remote was working fine locking and unlocking the car as normal. However now when I use the remote to lock the car all the doors do lock with the exception of the drivers door and the fuel flap. In fact with the fuel flap the lock pin moves back and forth a few times and then gives up. I lock the car now with the key and strangely all the doors lock (with the exception of the fuel flap). The unlock works for all doors 7/8 times out 10 otherwise a key is needed there too (because it doesn't always unlock the drivers door). I'm confused as whatever it is is affecting just the drivers door and fuel flap. Any ideas?
  9. Found the problem. The drivers door wiring that I had originally repaired had corroded a little.
  10. Guys yesterday I parked my a galaxy on my drive and locked it via he remote and it locked. When I came back to it later and unlocked it via the remote it unlocked all locks with the exception of the drivers door lock. I had to use the key for this. My ac panel has no light and does not switch on. The clock isn't working and the trip meter keeps resetting after the every trip. It turned out to be fuse 32 but the second a new fuse touches the panel (not even pushed in just the metal contacts) it blows immediately. I've checked the drivers door wiring which I fixed a long time ago and still seems fine. No other wire breakages there. I've never had any damp in the car and no wet carpet from what I can gather. I've had his car for nearly 7 years and it's now sitting on 252k miles. Engine still fantastic no other problems. Battery is fairly new and still good. Car starts and drives fine, auto Windows work so does my radio and 12v socket. Just really confused. Any pointers?
  11. Hi I replaced the run on pump about 20k miles ago. That works in fact I hear it humming in the background when I switch the car off. I keep getting this fault code even after clearing several times: 01491 glow plug for heater (q9) 29-00 short to ground. My mechanic replaced it as I my driveway is was blocked by sewage works.
  12. I bought my galaxy almost 5 years ago and for the first year I used to have the 'please refuel' message come up on the dash when I needed to fill up. This suddenly disappeared and hasn't returned since. I have twice run out of fuel waiting for this light to come on. I've checked and rechecked all the fuses and cannot figure out why this has happened. Any ideas?
  13. Ok tried it, was 5c outside but did not come On! Car has 243k on the clock. I bought it at 83k and don't remmeber It ever working.
  14. I have a 2005 tdi 115. Just changed the glow plug and cleared the fault using vag com. The outside temperature was 11 c however I was led to believe the aux heater should come on if car is cold (below 75c). Mine didn't turn on and the car had not been driven in two days.
  15. I've blanked off the egr from the exhaust side and directly under the egr valve itself whilst leaving the cooler in situ to allow coolant flow. Do I also need to plug the vacuum hose that attaches to the flying saucer?
  16. I'm going to blank it for now. I'll see if my local TPS will let me have that pipe section at a good price. Thanks for your help insanity beard. Appreciate it.
  17. Problem found. It is in fact the egr cooler. The flexible part of the pipe that comes of the exhaust was pounding out hot air thanks to a tear caused by me bending it back and forth to access the intake bolts.
  18. Yeh I can't actually physically feel any leak around the egr cooler. This hissing is so loud and even present at idle. When I push the car it gets faster. Going to inspect the egr itself one more time. Also going to check the intake manifold bolts.
  19. So that would be a blanking plate from eBay then. I ordered one yesterday for
  20. Exhaust gas leak from the cooler. I had to push the cooler back when I disconnected it from the egr as I couldn't access the intake manifold bolts otherwise. I think this may have damaged it. Which is why I want to block it off from the exhaust side. I'll leave it in situ for coolant to flow through as normal.
  21. Problem is if I blank off under the egr valve I've still got a leak.
  22. What I meant was blanking off the exhaust gas from entering the cooler, ie effectively decommissioning the egr valve.
  23. Hi guys, Over the weekend I removed the intake manifold from my 05 galaxy for a clean. After re installation inm can hear a really loud hiss which is louder under acceleration. From what I can see and observe it's the egr cooler. Hissing pressure changes as I move the cooler around a little (unbolted). I was thinking about blanking the cooler off at some point before the leak. If I blank off before the cooler this shouldn't be a problem should it? Thanks for your help.
  24. Lol I just decided to do this today and man oh man. Never again! I cannot believe that my car has 239k and the manifold and egr were actually cleaner than all of yours. Don't know how to upload pics but my intake was actually pretty clean.
  25. I still haven't got round to doing this. Got 239k on it now and can feel she's not as enthusiastic as she used to be. Will have a go today weather allowing.
