  1. Could anyone please help me. My car seems to be overevving when i cahnge gear and when i come to a stop and depress the clutch the car revs up and then sometimes csettles down. Does anyone know any quick fixes???
  2. I recently had my car MOTd and the only fails were one tyre and the brake lights not working. so i changed the bulbs and hey presto but for some time this has been a problem that at random times the lights will stop working,it seemed that to cure this i just had to apply more pressure to the brake pedal and this seemed to do the trick, however in ths recent bad weather when i started the car i have warning lights that the brakes are not working but after applying the brake the lights go out and i assume everything is back to normal however when i back into my drive and apply the pedal it still comes on intermittently. Any suggestions on what to check and where?? many thanks

  4. I have 1998 ford galaxy 2.3ghia and I am trying to get everything done for my mot and the final thing is the rear registration plate lights are not working, now i have already replaced both bulbs and still no luck-so next is it a fuse?? I sadly do not have a hand book or Haynes manual so i need a diagram of what they all mean-especially the fuse for the number plate lights! any advice or pictures would be great.
  5. I have just spent the last 2 days trying to find out why my car Mk1 2.3 1998 Galaxy keeps chewing up drive belts. I have gone through all the stages of putting it on the wrong way and then the right way and then realising that the a/c compressor seemed to be sticking and i duly greasesd it and refitted it and the belt and then 10 minutes driving and it chewed it up again. This i think is the problem so my my question is can i bypass the A/C? I know the belt would have to be shorter, but could this be done safely! A new one is at least 200+vat plus fitting soi any advice would be great.
  6. Many thanks will try in the morning to see if it works. again many thanks.
  7. Sorry-my car is a 1998 2.3 dohc 16v manual gearbox. any advice or help would be great!!

  9. My alternator belt broke so i went and bought one- after some problem i found a diagram and refitted the belt. however now when i restarted the car the power steering which the belt goes over does not seem to be working, although the belt is correctly fitted and i can see the motor going round it is still very stiff. Does anyone know if i will have to bleed the power steering fluid and does anyone have a diagram or any instructions on doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ;)
  10. My alternator belt broke this morning on my 2.3-1999 galaxy and in my attempt to fix it i find that i am needing a layout of the belt as it must go on several pulleys etc and i just cant work it out. any help or advice would be great, but what i really need is a picture of the belt layout. many thanks.
