yeah it turns fine and there seems to some physical resistance, hence why i'm reluctant to jump straight to replacing it. just wondered if anyone had experienced this problem before? thnx

ford galaxy 2003 tdi 130. Air con not working when purchased and virtually no gas pressure in system. The compressor clutch is not working, and when I tried putting 12v to it the wires melted, I suspect a short. I used a DVM on the 2 pins and it beeps i.e. there is continuity. Question: what might cause this problem and can it be fixed? either way I expect I'll have to buy a used compressor. Also the connector to the compressor seems to have 0.25v on it. Any idea why, I'd have thought if it was low pressure (short to ground) then there would be no volts? If I get round to changing the compressor then I'll have to review the condenser/drier cap and we start getting into serious money, with possible pipe leaks as well I presume (and I only paid

it was the dash, replacement off ebay for £42 cured the abs light (and faulty fuel guage).

thanks for your reply. I have some experience with the ABS, having changed a reluctor ring and multiple ABS sensors/connector problems. My issue is that before I replace the instrument cluster or ABS LED, I was expecting to see a voltage being supplied to the ABS warning light on the 28 pin connector. However it seems to be supplying only 6mV- which I cant really believe is sufficient to light the LED - so possibly my problem is elsewhere, although I don't know where to being looking ... any suggestions appreciated!

I have a 1999 Alhambra 110tdi. Just failed MOT as there is no ABS light coming on (at start up). I had the following codes, but they haven’t come back since being cleared. I’ve checked the fuses that appear to be for the ABS (numbers 9, 10 & 28) and they all show continuity. Any ideas of what to try next are gratefully appreciated! I've taken out the dash and don't see any voltage on the ABS LED. Not sure what else to try other than a new dash. i THINK this is just a normal mark 1 galaxy, which I thought was VW made - you should be able to see VAG on some of the parts, in which case its VAG-COM. A cable can be purchased cheaply of ebay £15 and then download of VAG shareware should be able to confirm. I've relied on VAG countless times for my 99 alhambra!

for info, max MAF reading is 1275 ms/str and max MAP is 2570 mBars. do these seem too high? and its a 1.9tdi 110bhp

VAGCOM DTCs: 2 Faults Found: 17958 - Charge Pressure: Control Deviation P1550 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17563 - Manifold Abs.Pressure Sensor (G71): Circ. Short to B+ P1155 - 35-00 Goes into limp mode. When I log the MAF & MAP, the actual values seem a lot higher than the specified at 2500-3500 rpms. I dont know whether to try replacing theses sensors, or whether the problem may be to do with the VNT vanes ... There COULD be vacuum leaks but nothing obvious. Any ideas on what to try next? many thanks Kester

Replacing Airbag Controller
kester replied to kester's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I think its my fault - i had not bolted the module down so it was not grounded! STUPID STUPID ME  I am now able to read the fault codes. Once I get the final cable/connector i'll be able to clear fault codes, test again and see if all is working -

thanks for reply :) Yes, as soon as unplug the airbag ECU I can read all the usual modules. And of course I was able to read the old controller. -

Help Needed Airbag And Oil Warning Lights
kester replied to lamby290881's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
presume the battery light on dash DOES go out when you start the engine? I fitted an alternative alternator and the charging wire wasn't connected right on side of alternator, and it wasn't charging the battery, until I cut the connector and connected it right. Now its worked for months. Good luck -
there after a small bump in my wifes alhambra (1999 110tdi) [same as a Galaxy] that set both airbags off, I am now trying to replace and reset all airbags etc. I've found cheap replacement airbags, although need to obtain a replacement loom/connector before I can connect the steering wheel airbag. I've tried 2 replacement airbag controllers from scrap and cant get VAG-COM to read them. In fact when the controller is plugged in, VAG-COM refuses to talk to any modules in the car at all (e.g. ABS, engine etc)! Is this expected behaviour and is there something I need to do to the airbag controller before it will communicate? Also in the process the fuel gauge now only reads empty with warning light on - but I've yet to investigate that (may be fault with sender, connector or instrument cluster I guess). many thanks

fitted a new alternator from GSF (120A version for my alhambra 1.9tdi 110bhp, 1999) as pulley fell off other and needed to get back on road so couldn't wait to order pulley tool and the brushes were well worn. Turned out they gave me a slightly different part as I needed to use 6 washers glued together as two spacers to make it fit the width of the bolts; and also the charge warning light wire/connector is not the same so I have left it unconencted as yet (until I find a suitable connector). However after a few days the battery is flat and not charging when checked with DVM. I now presume the charge warning light wire is required to be connected to ensure the circuit is complete? Or is it likely I've done summat else wrong? Where do I find a suitable 2 pin weatherproof connector and how are they spec'ed (dimensions etc)? and only one pin was connected before - how do I tell which one to wire in?! attached photos are the connector on the new alternator that I need to find a female mate for ... thanks for help Kester

Location Of Long 3mm Vacuum Hose
kester replied to kester's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
thanks for your advice. I've had the instrument cluster out on my identical alhambra but looks tricky to get the ECU out so I happy to go with your suggestion of cutting & connecting - however can you tell me where I can buy a 3mm - 3mm connector (and the 5mm-3mm reducer I also require)? THANKS -
Have had lots of black smoke mostly as low revs and following error codes on galaxy tdi 110bhp. 17563 - Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71): Short to B+ P1155 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17958 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs P1550 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent 16989 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs P0605 - 35-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent have tried changing hoses and swapping both pressure solenoids. I cant locate the end of the final 3mm vac hose that runs from next to air temp sensor on turbo air intake, all around bulkhead past N75 and fuel lines and behind air filter housing and past top of driver side shock absorber. Does this go to the ECU and if so how do I get to that end and is it easy? Alternatively I can cut it and use some 3mm connector (assuming the last few inches are not split). Anybody know where I can get such a connector? I also need the 5mm-3mm reducer as I broke mine. thanks Kester

sounds like mine. Could be immobilizer/remote problem, is the red light on drivers door flashing frantically after trying to start? get/check VAG COM error codes. COntact me if so and I'll let you know how I get on, getting auto electrician to look on Friday Also check spare key if you have one!
