  1. HI THERE WELL ITS ALIVE NO NOT REALLY BUT MY HEATER IS UP AND RUNNING,THREE DAYS NOW AND THE WARM UP TIMES HAVE HALFED. THE PROBLEM IN THE END WAS SOMEBODY ELSE HAD BEEN INSIDE THE HEATER AND DAMAGED THE PLUG WHICH GOES INTO THE PCB AND THE TWO PINS FOR THE TEMP SENSOR DIDNT CONNECT WITH THE PCB SO REMADE THE CONNECTIONS AND TRIED AGAIN ONCE I'D CLEARED THE FAULT CODES AND IT WORKED THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP. ANDY
  2. WELL PULLED THE FUSE BOX APPART TODAY LOOKING FOR RELAY 17 WHICH IN THE HANDBOOK SAYS AUX HEATER, WELL THERE ISNT ONE THERE AND NO WIRING FOR ONE SO I THINK I WILL INVESTIGATE THE TEMP SENSOR WIRING/PLUG/SENSOR. ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO TEST THE SENSOR PLEASE. REGARDS AND HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL ANDY
  3. HI THERE I THINK WHAT IAM GOING TO NEXT IS TO INVESTIGATE WHY I HAVNT GOT A FEED TO THE PUMP NEXT TO THE TANK. IAM GOING TO GO THROUGH ALL THE FUZES AGAIN AND EVEN HAVE A LOOK AT RELAY 17. CHEERS ANDY
  4. The code reader I have is a maxiscan 405 now it allows me to read and remove the fault codes, now today I was looking at the rear brakes (handbrake mech playing up) anyway I checked the the pump feed next to the fuel tank and nothing on my test lamp so I powered it up with a 12v feed and it clicked I even disconnected the the fuel line on the heater hoping to see fuel coming out but nothing. I then took the heater apart to check the fan and it moved freely so not seized I checked all the fuzes, the temp sensor on the wiper mech so IAM THINKING THE TEMP SENSOR IN THE HEATER OR FUEL PUMP any ideas welcome and thanks for the replys. Gary got your pm but sorry mate Iam going to use the old on another project. ANDY
  5. I thought so I use them alot good price on OE parts I mean the additional water pump came in a bosch box with the audi badge stamped on the pump body so Iam happy. Iam going to try to fit it on friday so fingers crossed will let you know how it goes. ANDY Well I fitted the new run on pump which is working perfectly but the code reader is still say over temp sensor so I was wondering if it could be anything else, metering pump, fan or even a faulty sensor. Abit stuck at the moment what I will do is strip the heater down again and double check everything, stumped is a under statement any advice welcome. ANDY

  7. This sounds like water is not circulating through the heater - so it overheats rather than circulates cooler water through it. check the auxiliary electric water pump AKA 'after run pump' is working. Get to a quiet location and listen for the hum from behind the dash in the engine compartment as soon as the engine is stopped. Standing at the front of the car, with ENGINE JUST TURNED OFF put your hand over/behind the fuel pump and feel if the pump (held in large rubber rings) is running. It is designed to run for about 90 seconds or so after shutting down the engine. It also starts up about 90 seconds after starting the engine but you won't hear it. The pump is fixable (usully worn out carbon brushes) if you are a patient person prone to fiddling with very small awkward things. If you replace it can I have your old one because I seriously butchered mine doing a rushed repair job on the brushes. Thanks for the reply Dave I went down euro car parts and picked up a new pump on the of chance mine is duff but I will try test it but I do seem to remmember hearing something running when I switched off when I first got the car 12 months ago but wasnt aware of this pump arrangement and now thicking about I havent heard it So I reckon its had it, THE CARS DONE 90,000 I will let you know how I get on. By the way the pump part is BOSCH PART No 0 392 020 073 EURO CAR PART No 201 44 0180 ADD WATER PUMP VARIOUS MODEL
