Hi the battery and alternator are pretty new, the garage who was going to try and get it there today reckons it is having heating on full whack which is tripping a fuse, cant not have it on in this weather though! They've not come out so not sure what to look for with fuses etc. need the car on the road big time, have several school runs and need to go to other places next week. So really need it sorting.

Hi took my son to school fine, then got in and it came on again with clicking from fusebox, then got to a roundabout and again ABS and seatbelt light came on, got it home, wont start!!! so cant see it as fusebox problem? had a new one in last month and battery isnt yet 2 yrs old and alternator not yet a year old...definitely electrical as its cold and damp out and tends to do it when its like this...

Hi not been on for a long time as I have been having probs with the Galaxy but have been picked up by Breakdown til this morning...I got the kids to school fine and then went to the supermarket and turned engine off for 5 mins whilst waitng for my husband to come out, when I turned ignition on the fusebox started clicking and now my battery light wont go out. Last month I was on my way to a friends 15 miles away and got halfway there when my ABS light came on, then seatbelt lights then my fusebox started clicking and so I pulled into a layby and turned engine off, could not start it again got recovery out and it found to be needing a new gearbox...conked out on me in may too and needed a new accelerator! Am I able to still drive the car without it conking out and what could possibly be the problem this time? Thanks!!!

Hi, well I phoned up again this morning, he said the diagnostic machine brought up a number of problems but he reset it and went driving about with some computer and it first read a problem with the throttle position sensor. So I shall get that bit repaired and then sell her on as I don't want to pay out for the other problems. Unbelievable how the flashing coil light brings up multiple problems hey! I have my eye on a decent Zafira so I may buy theat instead lol grrr to cars!

Hi, Well, recovery picked up my galaxy this morning and he used to be a mechanic and when I mentioned the brake light switch he looked at me as if I was from mars and said, the brake lights wouldn't work and it has nothing to do with loss of power, anyhow, I went with him to the garage and when he had gone asked my usual mechanic and he looked at me like it too and said what has a light switch got to do with loss of power? I said 'erm don't know???' he said, no it sounds like the air flow filter, which when removed and engine starts the power seems better but he said he'll put it through diagnostics tonight anyway and phone tomorrow with whats what. I'll keep you posted as to what it is. But if its anything expensive then I shall leave it at the garage and flog it with a reduction as I seriously have had enough with cars! I have only had it a year and have spent over a grand on it and it still needs stuff doing like air con regassing, parking sensors, brake discs and pads etc. Just can't afford these things :o(

Hi, I tried to find this on here... today coming back from a long weekend I had travelled 40 miles when, coming off a roundabout, my coil light flashed, the engine got really noisy like it was over revving and lost all power to it. I stopped then waited 10 minutes and it started up ok but noisy, got 2 miles down the road and it did it again so had to tow me and my family home. From what I am finding it looks an expensive job but is there anyone who actually had the same problem and how was it corrected? (felt a bit heavy when this happened, to kind of drive) Thankyou!

Seat Belt Broken
gertygutbucket replied to gertygutbucket's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
I'm not sure exactly what bit's broken? Thats how its shown as a parts breakdown, it sounds like you are talking about the clip that latches into part 9? If so then A, how the hell did you manage it because its metal reinforced? and B, you'll need a new belt as it can't be replaced on its own. As a temp workaround and only if nobodys going to use the seat you can remove the whole seat prior to taking the car for its MoT and it should pass with an advisory as it can't be tested. Hi thanks, lol @ how the hell did I break it...no its not no. 9 unless the picture is in reverse as its the black plastic bit which surrounds the metal bit that clips into slot 12. -
Seat Belt Broken
gertygutbucket replied to gertygutbucket's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Also I had to have a whole new boot lock as it stayed open even when I locked the car but since then the boot lights don't go out nor does the 'door open' light on my dashboard even whilst driving, it just stays on all the time???? yet they are all locked, also my reverse lights don't work sooo annoying!!! Oh and how much does the underneath part of the exhaust and all break discs cost any idea's? -
Hi I have a 2001 Mk2 Galaxy and the middle 3 point seatbelt has broken. Its the right sided where you bring the belt down to clip into place to make it 3 point. It has completely snapped apart and can't clip it back together and I am due for an MOT soon and need to find where I can buythem, then and try and fit it myself without buying a new complete belt? Any pointers please? Thanks!!!

Reverse Lights And Rear Door
gertygutbucket replied to gertygutbucket's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, Cheers for that, which rubbger trunking is it as there are two wibbly wobbly rubbery tubes either side at the top, odd thing is recently the catch does catch and doesn't lol so I'm thinking its being tempremental. But would like to know if it cost much to replace the wiring if its that? Rough estimate would be fine. -
Reverse Lights And Rear Door
gertygutbucket replied to gertygutbucket's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Cool, will do thanks, how much do wires cost to get fitted etc then? -
Hi I posted on here a while back about my alternator, which I did get replaced and they found also it was a fuse. Well, now my rear door won't 'catch' when I shut it and have to lock the car internally when I am driving so it doesn't come open as I have two children in the rear seats and my reverse lights do not work either which I found odd the fact both have gone together. My upper break strip on the door and lights work, not sure of the fogs though but my neighbour again suggested a fuse had gone to the lights??? and I know the catch maybe damaged but can't think how, I had a fiddle and it seems it the catch in the actuall door itself does not move across like its supposed to. Wondered how much all this is going to cost as I have had nothing but trouble the last couple of months and am really really considering selling though I have no idea which 7 seater is reliable? Thanks! Nicky

Hey all, I managed to get the car to a garage and it was actually a fuse which had gone and it had blown one of the wires too, so they refitted them for me at a fraction of cost. thank goodness! I am now hoping nothing else will go wrong!
