The Mk2 Galaxy never had the seatbelt warning system installed. just the sharan/bamma - if the lights coming on then someones been fiddling in vagcom :wacko: (remove 02 from the coding) Alternatively its probably a doddle to retrofit as most driver only warning systems are simple dumb ground switches which are made when the belts put in the socket - its only when you start adding passenger warning that you need occupancy sensors, you'll need to find where to run the wiring to on the clusters connector though which should be pin 31 on the blue connector (C170) thanks for the reply,thats cleared up 1 fault i thought i had, now i can concentrate on the dodgey parking sensor i have on the front. best regards Hocky

perhaps i have not got a problem then??? I only asked because if you look clsely at the speedo clock you can see there is a seatbelt warning sign but it does not illuminate. I read the manual and it says it will light up and a audible sould will be heard if seat blets are not put on.

what year/model? sorry its a 04 mk2 ghia diesel

when ignition is switched on the seat belt warning light does not come on and you can drive with out a seat belt on and it does not beep. is there a fuse that has been removed? or is it something else? thanks

thanks mate for all your advice. i have been out there all afternoon with a hose pipe and i could not see any water coming in from anywhere. all the carpet was pulled back and the underlay was soaked through but the top of the underlay and around where the heater is was bone dry. I have found some broken glass in the door,The only thing i can think is that the window was broke before i bought the car and the carpet got soaked and has not dried out yet. I have got as much water out of the underlay as i can, i will just keep checking. thanks Again. best regards Hocky

Hi dont know of anything on that side have you eliminated heater and windscreen, the boxes under the seats are the lowest point so will eventually find its way there, whats the condition of your door weatherstrips? some else had a problem with water running across door scuff trim i thought the heater cause the carpet to be wet on the sides by the centre console but this is dry. it seems more wet towards the door. the door seal and the weather strip seem ok, how can i check if screen is leaking? thanks

thanks again for info. scuttle drains appear clear,poured water down and it ran freely out of the bottom. is there any pipes under the drivers seat for anything? it seems that under there is more wet than the footwell.

Hi there the light comes on when there is a break in the curcuit of the pad wear indicator lead, if its been activated by worn out pads causing the the light to come on then replacing the pads and the leads will cure the problem, however pads are available without wear leads which will leave the light on. Check the o/s rear first make sure a new wear lead has been plugged in to the loom there is only one indicator on rears the fronts have them on both. Once you have found the fault the light will go out. If you are unable to find a fault at the wheels then you may need Vagcom to pinpoint the fault. thanks for the info

warning light comes on with ignition (CHECK BRAKE PADS) and beeps on 04 ghia that i just bought. the rears look brand new. does this mean its the fronts? or has the the previous owner changed the faulty rears but not reset the warning light? can you manually reset warning light or is it a dianostic machine job?

Hi there quite a few posibilities, start with the easy one check the scuttle drains are clear thats the area under the windscreen where all leaves and dirt block the drain flaps and can send rainwater down through the heater, next if you have a sunroof the drain tubes can get blocked/split or even detached. Aircon drain can become blocked if pollen filter is missing or damaged also is a service item that can get overlooked. Heater matrix leaking with loss of coolant and steamed up windows and lastly bad fitting/leaking windscreen. N/S footwell only can be due to rear screenwash pipe pulled apart there is a join in the pipe under the scuff trim this can be clicked back together and a small cable tie to secure. :) thanks for the reply no sunroof so that eliminates 1. where are the scuttle drains? are these right under the wiper mechanism at the the back where you cannot reach? also where is the aircon drain? thanks

can't find the locking wheel nut key on my recently purchased galaxy. its a 04 reg. where can i get 1?

i managed to get another galaxy after weeks of searching. As usual not all is as seems when you first inspect them, after the last couple of downpours the drivers footwell and under seat is full of water. any idea's would be helpfull. thanks

Hello thanks for all the info, i decided not to buy it, there were a few more probs when i looked closer.

I have been offered a 2002 tdi with low miles that has a slight problem, i think. on start up it smokeas a bit and then clears, no power loss but it uses abit of oil. Is this a major problem? please let me know if there is anything i can check before handing over my cash. thanks

had a good look and lots of greasing and they seem to be working fine now, i amjust now waiting to see what else is going to pack up. thanks for the reply.

anther problem i have found. fornt wipers seem stiff and blow fuse when you switch them on. any idea's thanks

I have just bought a Galaxy 96 p reg. my problem is the rear door only opens with key. does any know what the problem is? please any help thanks Hocky
