Hi i was goning to get the cambelt done any way as i have just bought the car with 150000 on the clock and no record of when it was done and yes they are replacing the hole lot . I will look at doing the expantion bottle cap as when the temp when right up i did loose some water not much from the tank i thoght that would be normal as it was over presureised. I have checked rad pipes when the car is running and top and bottom pipes are hot i also checked the small pipe that runs to the top of the expantion tank it is clear(you can blow through when removed) but there is no flow of water when the engine is running i was advised that if the pump is working there should be a steady flow of water. saying all that i took it for a run yesturday got it up to temp 90c and drove up a couple of local hills and the temp only went to one mark over 90C..??? :lol: The only other thing is when i plugged it into vag-com i had 4 flame out codes from rear heater could this be related.

Hi just checked for fault codes and found P1161 Manifold Temp.Sensor Circ. Open/Short to B+ 17569 P1156 Manifold Abs.Pressure Sensor Circ. Open/Short to Ground 17564 what would these faults indcate what should i check of is it just faulty sensors also

ok goning to bit the bullet putting it in the garage for cambelt and water pump ive been quoted 250 +vat so around 300 beer tokens is that a good price for a independant garage or not.

I know i did the pollen filter on my mk1 i think they could of made it harder if thay welded a plate over it but not much.... did the service this weekend all went very smoothly no nasty supprises but i left the pollen filter this time.

HI ive done the service to day engine runs great the over heating fault still there were is the stat if im right i think its were the bottom right pipe from the rad joins the engine but this look like a swine to get off as the bottom bolt is blocked by the alinator.... i have checked the pipe that returns to the expantion tank its clear but there is no water flow when engine is running so im heading towards water pump but ive been quoted

I was parked up this morning with the engine running when i noticed a lot of white smoke comming from a small pipe under rear passanger door from what ive read its the glow pulg in the booster heater at fault please can someone give me a idia how to remove the heater test glow plug ect...

Hi i go my 02 2.9tdi 90pd a week ago and have noticed when going up hill quite steep/long the temp gage when very high not into the red but close but then fell back to 90c when i was back on the level. I know she needs a good service (doing this weekend) just looking for the overheating problem i suspect the stat. but not sure. thanks kertrats

Hi just bought a 2002 galaxy tdi i think i its the lx. There are two empty holes in the bottom corners of the front bumper were the fogs should be i havent looked yet but i dont spose the lx has front fogs as standard if not should the wiring loom be there to connect too if i wanted to add them. if not were could i find blanking plates to fill the holes.

Hi just got a 2002 1.9tdi and it despratly needs a service i have serviced most of my old cars but have a few questions . 1 what type of oil is best for 1.9tdi and how many (lt) dos the engine take. 2 should i flush it as the oil is black and what would you recomend i use if i should . 3 is there any thats I should check/look out for while im oily. 4 is there any tricky or fiddly bits to look out for. regards kertrats

Thanks caff i will get the glx done under warranty i had it sorted by my insurance ive contacted them but there taking there time sorting it but they told me it had a three year warranty.

HI im sure theres an easyer way but when i had to get to the second layer i removed the lower trim under the stearing wheel then i think there is a screw at the top of the fusebox in the center attaching it to a curved metal bracket then just the two white clips at the bottom then a bit of wiggling and pushing up to release it once out its easy to unclip the two sections to get to the second layer.

Please could someone help i have two galaxys one 2.3glx 1998 and just got a 1.9 tdi 2002 both have heated windscreens the one in the glx was working fine untill i had it replaced by auto glass now it dosnt work at all but ive checked the voltage going into the screen and its good (13V+) and ive checked the ground by testing resitance from the windscreen input to the body and that seems ok. The 1.9tdi has the same problem on the passanger side but the drivers side seems ok. If any one knows what i should try next please let me know...

I will check those as well but at the moment its the rear leek im looking at when you poor water over the petrol cap it pools by the vent behind the bumper drivers side.

Hi i have a 1998 galaxy it has been damp over the winter i have now traked the leek down to the petrol cap there is a rubber gasket around it that i have removed and greased it and replaced and it still leeks has anyone come across this before and is there a known fix. thanks stu

Ok i had it up on the ramps quickly removed the starter cleaned and reasembled also cleaned all the contacts worked a treat even seems to drive better.. thanks all

HI all I have a 1998 2.3 glx and it some times makes a noise on start up like you have held the key on to long if you know what i mean.. just wondering if any one else has had this do you think it is the starter solenoid and do's that mean i have to replace the whole starter of is it possable to just replace the solenoid other than the noise the car starts first time no probs.. thanks stu

just tryed to reset my airbag warning light i am getting error number error description 588 airbag igniter - driver side -n95 Resistance to high i think this sounds like the clock spring fault ive read about any help on how easy it is to change and were to get one from would be great... and how much... thanks stu

HI i have fitted remote centrel locking in my 1998 gal but i have not attached the horn wire just wondering were the best place to cut into the horns wiring i was thinking the steering coloum ?? any one know what colour the wire is at the coloum. :lol:

hi i have just got a 98 2.3 glx the aircon dosnt seem to be working the light on the knob comes on when its pressed but there is no drop in revs.no cold air. I was going to check the compresser but i think its located under the airbox but i cant see how to remove it . any help on how to remove this box and other things to check would be great ...

great i take it thast the one marked GA on the lable on the stereo from what i have read it should be connected to the abs sensor wire do you know if this is right is so were i can find a pick up point for it thanks....
