Hi Dave Latency can be adjusted from COM port properties. Plug in your Vag-Com lead to the USB socket open device manager, double click on COM ports, double click on your saved port, then click on port settings then click advanced, you should then be able to see the latency settings, mine is set on sixteen try that or a lower setting this may work for you Hi Chris, Thanks for the advice but I

Thanks Gregers, fair play to them that sounds really reasonable. Can you buy the blank key from them as well, or do you think it would start getting expensive that way? Thanks, Mark

Hi, We had a similar problem so made enquiries about 4 wheel alignment. We were told the back end is NON - adjustable and while they'd certainly do the check, they didn't think in our case that tracking was the answer (very honest of them I thought, They could just have done it and charged us), so perhaps chrispb has a good point with the shockers. Best of luck Snowytop.

Parking Sensor Problem
snowytop replied to Sammie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi just going to work now will PM later with details. Chris Hi All, I hope this sorts the problem for you but any chance you could post the result for us on here, the suspense is killing me. Good luck, Snowytop -
Thanks for that info I always thought it was to do with the engines. I'm pleased to say that the wife is now sleeping soundly at night again, comfortable in her new found knowledge and no doubt dreaming of parking sensors and alloy wheels. Thanks again.

The first time I heard the name Zetec was years ago on TV when the advets mentioned something like "the new Ford Zetec". As we're looking to buy a newer galaxy ( T or V reg) there are loads of adverts for the 110bhp Zetec TDI. Yet when I saw one it looked the same as our old 90bhp VW TDI engine {unless I was being strung a line, could have been out of an Anglia for all I know}. Can anyone explain to me please what Zetec is or means ? Is it still a VW engine or Fords own ? What about the newer models with the 115 130 bhp are they still VW ? If anyone can shead any light on this please it would be most appreciated, its keeping the wife awake at night worrying about it, and I can't take much more. Thanks.

Cor Blimey who'd have guessed there could be so much expense and trouble from a key. Thanks very much everyone for putting us wise to these issues, I'd never even heard of PATS. Its very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, could anyone help please. Do the 'T' 'V' or even newer reg 1.9 TDI galaxys require a special ignition key, we had an R reg and were told to look after the RED key as it cost a fortune to replace from ford, but I can't remember what it was for. We're now looking for another galaxy only a bit newer, but a seller told me the other day that he hadn't got and didn't think they had a RED special key anymore. Whilst the colour obviously doesn't matter is there still a special key that we should ensure is present before buying the car and just what on earth does it do? Many Thanks.

Wifes Broke Me Diesel.

Thanks for that info. It's really helpful to know that we are probably going in the right direction (at last). I'll do some investigating in the morning and keep my fingers crossed for something easy. Many Thanks. -

Hi Everyone, Slight development to this problem. Had car on a garage's diagnostic today they were really good, honest and open and didn't fill me full of bull, and eventually it seems the machine decided it was the ' Injector stroke needle sensor'. Does this sound likely ? Any thoughts very welcome please. -
Hi again, I'm considering buying a fault code reader for my 1998 1.9 TD to try to locate this awkward fault we still have ( Fuel smoke). Can anyone suggest a type please. Are these 1998 galaxy's OBD 2 compliant ? Does it need to be VAG COM ( whatever that is ) that I hear you experienced people talking about, or can a different type do the job ? Took the advice of one of you guys and went looking on E-bay last night at the handheld readers, theres loads. Can anyone cut through the big words and acronyms and suggest what we need for our motor please. Any advice would be very helpful please. Many Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I think its probably a good idea to invest in an ECU reader, if I try e-bay could you suggest any points I should look for in a reader or even avoid. Do they tell you the falty component - corrctly? A guy in work today told me a garage machine said he needed a lambda sensor and after buying it they were wrong, (won't be going there then) and it didn't fix his problem. As far as the car is concerned I suppose I was hoping that someone may recognise the symptoms - perfect starting and tick over, loads of smoke when revved up combined with uneven running and poor performance, they were supposed to come back and say " I've had that fault, it's a sensor that costs -

Hi, Thanks very much for the reply. Just been outside waking the neighbours but with the MAFF unplugged there was no improvement, still no flashing glow plug light till revved up, and still loads of smoke and sluggish and lumpy. thanks for trying, any more thoughts please? Mark. -
Hello, can anyone help please? We've got a 1.9 TD galaxy on an R plate and today the heater/glow plug light has started flashing and the performance has dropped off. When you start it on the drive without touching the throttle, it starts and ticks over fine with no flashing glow plug light. As soon as you press the throttle the glow plug light starts flashing, it feels slow to rev up, doesn't feel as if its running smoothly (a little bit uneven or lumpy) and if you hold about 2000 revs there is clouds of diesel smoke (whiteish colour). In case theres any connection - last winter I discovered that the glow plugs were not being switched on in very cold weather. On investigation I discovered that the relay (the coil of the relay) was not being earthed when plugged into the fuse box (is this switched via some kind of electronic hokus pokus ?) if you provided your own earth the heaters came on. I have to hold my hands up and say that with these electronics and ecu's I'm at a loss where to start, I'm very competant with the conventional stuff, but feel like I've become a complete novice again overnight, so if anyone can give me some pointers please, it would be very much appeciated as I haven't got a clue where to start. Thank you very much in anticipation, Mark.
