  1. Remove the lower steering column cover. Unlock the adjustment lever and on the opposite side of the shaft at the bottom of the lever there is a small nut (it may not be a hex nut). Rotate this slightly then test it to get the tension correct.
  2. I know exactly where this unit resides and it is a real pain to get at. It is under the passengers side centre console panel attatched to the inside of the metal framework by 2 bolts. Getting at this will lacerate your hands, don't ask how I know that. Access is incredibly restrictive, I actually modified the metal frame work slightly and accessed it through the radio access area.
  3. I did consider making a cowl to go around the ball link when mine went recently. After looking at it I decided to spend the
  4. Sounds like a dead or disconnected dimmer to me. Are all the panel lights working with the lights switched off?
  5. I had the same issue with the rear passenger door lock. I removed the card with the door closed which can be done if you are careful. Reach inside the rear of the door construction around the lock area. You should be able to feel a small upright lever, push / pull on this to get the lock off then the door should open with the normal handles. I found my door had a broken fixings plate on the central locking motor mech.
  6. I picked up much the same vehicle as yourself but with 56,000 on the clock (mileage confirmed by service history/MOT's) this weekend. It has a few small issues due to it having been slightly unloved which are slowly being sorted. I have noticed on the right of my lower filter box there is a hose type connection but with no hole through it. Could this be where your blank came from?
  7. My 1996 has the box you are looking for under the passenger seat
  8. My newly aquired 1996 2.8 Ghia has twin electric opening rear windows, and suprisingly they both work!
  9. Just fitted a Sony front end unit to my newly aquired 1996 Gal 2.8 Ghia. Mine did have the amp fitted in the centre consol. If you remove the tray under the radio aperature, you can use a torch and see the amp lying in the bottom of the hole. To remove it I had to remove the small centre consol facia because I could not get a screwdriver to the front left screw. All the speaker wires are fitted to the largest connector found on the back of the amp. Good luck
