Hi all,does anyone know if its possible to remove the audio unit from a 2001 2.8 galaxy without the special tools. the mobile phone holder cable is splitting the lower dash and i want to take it out but it is connected to the radio. thanks t bag.

Hi all,around this time of the year I take off each wheel and inspect everything for wear and tear prior to next months MOT. Offside, nothing wrong so just a wire brush & re apply waxoil. On the nearside the driveshaft can be moved in & out about 1mm. its not making any noise while driving only a metallic sound when I push/pull it. Also there is same amount of play on the suspension strut when moved up & down. Can anyone suggest which parts are possibly worn. thank you T bag.

Hi all,The 10mm bolts on my passenger door check strap had come loose.I have nipped these up, but the bolts holding the strap to the door pillar are also loose. These have an allen key looking hole and I wondered if anybody knew what type and size key I need. cheers T bag

Hi all,Up until 12 weeks ago i was using shell v power petrol in my 2001 V6 with the engine check light on.For ten weeks i used tesco super unleaded, The check light went out on its own. On my way up to ayr i filled her up with shell V power again and within 120 miles engine light came on and is still on.So i am going to use only tesco super for the next few weeks to see if it happens again. Will keep you posted. T bag

I got a genuine pollen filter from fords, it was 4mm deeper than the one i replaced.Took it back, they said you have to remove wiper motor to fit it. I know its a tight fit but this one would not go in at all. T bag

Hi all, just done my brakes using a one man kit from halfords.I got the wife to pump while i sorted out the nipple end.Several pumps were needed till new fluid appeared then i tightened up the nipple,We did the rear ones, then it rained, so left the front till the weekend.The pedal went a bit soft also went down further before biting. So the next time i got the wife to pump 4 times and hold pedal down on last stroke then tighten up the nipple.Done the fronts, now we have superb brakes with new fluid.

My wipers judder when the rainex needs re-doing.I now clean all my windows with auto glym glass polish and the judders go away. Just a thought. Tbag.

Funny thing is the light went out yesterday only to come back on after a couple of miles.It was still on after taking off batt leads,Engine light went out thank goodness. T bag

Hi wolfie,Im sure its theTCS not ABS,Its been getting worse over the last 2or3 weeks.I have sprayed the connectors and all the sensor rings appear to be in tact. This morning i turned ignition on and off three times also ESP switch but the light is still on.Is it ok to drive? or do i need to get it checked out before i go on holiday.Cheers,T BAG

Hi all,My traction control light keeps coming on, usually first thing in the morning but when i switch off it goes off. Then it comes on and stays on.Last night i took off the batt earth lead and the light is still there this morn.Any Ideas anybody please. Tbag.

I have this book, It is glovebox size and I find it makes interesting reading.But the spark plug part nos are wrong for the MK2 V6.Cheers. tbag

out of interest what does it have - bus bars ?? It has 6 ignition coils, each one mounted directly on its own spark plug, with the wire windings actually placed around the ceramic of the plug. That way there are no HT leads and no HT distributor. Each coil is triggered electronically by the engine management system. I should also add that some of these coils made in early 2001 were of poor quality and as a result VW recalled all of them in the USA (they were across the VW range of cars) and replaced them with newer versions. In the UK Ford considered them good enough for Galaxy V6 drivers. The first sign of any problem is a slight misfire or rough running which when it gets worse puts the engine management warning light on and writes a fault code to the log of "misfire detected on cylinder X". Have put the old plugs back in and all is ok, With the new plugs in there is no misfire but I can tell when I accelerate the perfomance is off. Have re-gapped the new ones, I will try again.

2001 2.8 V6. Hi all, Have just fitted new set of plugs, the gal seems smoother but will not run as good at lower revs or under load. So i have taken them out. No 1 3 & 5 are clean but No 2 4&6 are half black & half clean on the outer rim.Could this be the root of my problem. The only other thing i can think of is I filled up with tesco petrol.Any comments would be welcome. cheers T bag
