  1. VW parts are cheaper. VW
  2. All fine now. FYI the handbook states r21 in the culprit but thats the location. Was the Relay 30 that was at fault. Thanks for the instructions within this forum. Job done in 25 minutes...
  3. Ha, just tried it (I'm at work 20 miles from home) and it clicked a few times and stopped with the EM light out and no engine crank when tried. Kicked the top layed out of frustration and the EM light came on, no clicking from the relay and boom engine started.... See what it's like in a hour when I go home....
  4. Just really need this confirmed: Galaxy 2.3 Zetec 03 plate Insert ignition key and try to start the car but no engine turnover. Engine Managment Light either off or will start to Flicker Relay clicking mad in fuse box Relay final settles, management light is on and engine starts. I take it this is relay 21 that needs relacing and nothing too sinister.... TIA
  5. cheers for the great responces , the noise tend to be around 35 to 60 mph more noticable on smooth roads seems noisier when braking , ive got some non decript tyres on , they were v rated directional tyres on the fron and some extra load tyres on the rear , ive swapped them around but the noise is still there , im having the n/s bearing done next saturday , if not i dont know what to do , i might have to wait till it gets worse , its really anoyying a contiuos drone , ill be asleep driving down to cornwall on the 30th  Is it fixed? I'm getting the same but my mate rekons the hub requires repacing @
  6. Not to sure, can soon spot them as they have a red tag in the seat about sholder height plus another in the front by the slider bar, this operates the booster.... Mine were on a 2.3 zetec 03 plate, even the salesman did not know they were there..
  7. Christ, thought this was a wierd post till I read the dates. Fine cars are they not. Had mine over 5 years now and well happy with it...
  8. Well, at least my indicators are still working
  9. I get about 24 to the gallon doing much the same. I agree with the Galaxy's built in child seats/boosters, I have a pair. these will see a child through his/her lifespan from baby through toddler and on. Pull a tab and you have a multipoint baby seat. Pull another tab and presto, you have a raised foot platform and a booster seat. Shame I've never used mine.
  10. I remember tem days, change a ford escort engine in 30 minutes.... Despite everything you read on here, not every galaxy has problems. I have had mine over 5 years now and suddenly the remote locking, passenger mirror motor and the aircon finally packed up. Quite happy considering the milage and abuse it gets....
  11. Touch wood, outside normal servicing costs and tyres/brakes, I have had no problems till now - AIRCON.... urrg gonna get the ball rolling on that one at the end of the month...
  12. If all else fails, give him a call: 01623 624741
  13. My only criticism with the Galaxy's seats are the size and weight of them when physically removing them form the car. The space left behind is excellent though. Had mine for 5+ years now, still love it.
  14. They are controlled by servo's. Thats why the direction dial takes a few seconds to change from screen to front vents.
  15. Tickover is increased with the aircon on, lights, fan, radio, screen heaters, dvd, fridge.... All adds to the idle
  16. Mine didnt cost a penny. I have a chain...
  17. Me? Seriously, I like the 2.3... Only drawback I found was the lack of omf when the engine gets old compared to the diesel..
  18. The 2.3 is a luverly luverly engine......
  19. This was actually Bishop's Stortford that was banging on about a belt change.... Well, the news that I just saved
  20. I always thought my local Gates in Harlow was spot on but but when booking my 03 2.3 zetec in for it's 40,000 mile service I was asked if I wanted a cam belt changed... OK, How much? I ask. Around
  21. We can all stay round your gaff then :)
  22. Alton sounds good, been nearly a year since I've been...
