  1. Hello All, after reading the the forum as my fuel economy is naff, I decided to check my secondary air pump. Will it be obvious that its running when you 1st start her up ?? as she dont seem to be.I have read about disconecting the pump wires and fitting a bulb and holder instead of the pump, is this a straight forward 12v indicator bulb for example?? just so i can try it to see if fuel economy is better before i get a replacement pump. ps i take it the pump is between the rocker cover and battery, with a pipe going down to manifold ?   3. The VSS is (going from memory here) next to the right hand output shaft. Just above it. Of the other 2, one is the TSS that measures the Torque converter speed (going from memory again) and i cant remember what the other one does. Sufice to say, they all do different things. They are all used to work out when to change up/down. Any one failing could put the gearbox into limp home mode. Based on the diag error, I'd go for the VSS 1st. The picture i have the is 1 sensor on the top near where g/box bolts to engine,other 1 is on top other end of box near output shaft,the other one is on the side of the g/box near output approx half way down. which one is poss the vss ?? It does not seem to be in limp mode as she goes through all the gears ok up and down,just changes at 4 k revs
  4. Hi Dave, As far as i'm aware the speed sensors are the ABS sensors. I guess they mean throttle position sensor :wacko: Hello again.I have manage to get a blow up of the gearbox and there are 3 speed sensors,all identical according to friend all Number 11?? does anyone no what the 3 are for ??or which 1 tells the ecu when to change up ?? poss 1 for when to change up,1 when to change down,other 1 reverse ?? just a guess Ta Dave
  5. Many thanks Steven, I will check that. I had a diagnostic done and it came up with a permanent error on the speed sensor ?? does anyone have any idea WHAT and WHERE they are on a 2L 1995 petrol model ?? Thanks Dave
  6. does anyone no of any decent garages in essex near basildon that can do a diagnostic on her ?? for a fair price. someone said it could be filters or valves as it might rely on oil pressure to no when to change gear ?? Thanks

  8. Hello, They way it is running,it def seems as if it has gone into sports mode,is there anyway of resetting it if this is the case on a MK1 Thanks

Ive had the car just over a year and never had any probs apart from changing the drop links about a month ago. ive looked at how to check the level on here but i wasnt sure if all the galaxys were the same.The one i looked at said the plug is at the bottom of the box sump,14mm to check oil level and the large one to drain,but both in same location.similar to the overflow on a loo.
  10. It can not learn how you drive.......if mine could it would most likely get a gun and shoot me ! There does seem to be a fault however with your autobox or its controller. Yep your right,disconnecting battery for a hour didnt do anything.where abouts is the controller on a 2L N reg ?? as it def seems odd,gears work as they should,just change at differant RPM than they did. I have been looking through the forum,and read that the Gal can learn how you drive can the Mk 1's do this ?? whilst in devon there were a lot of serious hills especially in Dartmoor where i was staying and the A303 is all up and down, is it poss this could have happened and would taking battery terminals off poss cure this without altering anything else ? Hello All, I have a N reg 2L Galaxy Auto.,I went on my hols last week to Devon in her and everything was fine.On the way home she seemed to have developed a fault,she seems to go from 1st to 2nd ok but she will not change into 3rd or 4th until it hits 4k rpm ?? which is a nightmare on juice when you are trying to do 30mph. I took her out again yesterday once everything was cold but still the same issue Can anyone point me in the right direction please. Thanks Dave
  13. Hello All, Ive been studying the forum and there seems to be plenty of free friendly info kicking about,as this is my 1st galaxy i will def be needing assistance at some time. I have just got a 1996 2.0L GLX.My other half wanted a car that she could see ahead for miles and i wanted something that i could fit all my fishing gear in to go to france,This seemed the ideal choice for the money and spares availabilty. Hopefully will see you about on the forum Dave

Hello all I picked up my 1st galaxy today 1996 2.0L GLX,needed something versatile for fishing in france.It came with :-- 1 red key 1 remote key 1 normal key 2 remote fobs i have used 1 fob to open/close central locking and normal key for starting,are the fobs standard???,the fobs are black and silver about 1/2" by 1 1/2" with 2 buttons,the larger of the 2 opens/closes the door what does the smaller one do ??? I cant work out why only 1 key has remote on it and the other one dont ?? If someone could enlighten me i would be gratefully before i go pressing them all to see what happens :-) Thanks Dave
