  1. this sounds more like the relay in the control module. have a search on this forum for indicator relay
  2. I know this is 2 years old now but just to keep things up to date, the price from Ford is now
  3. Yeah like others my relay has failed and finding them on ebay was £50 each so i started looking as i have managed to find them for £20 but in large quantity. now i am not trying to sell anything on here, all i am looking at is interest in them. if i do decide to go ahead i just want to break even and get my car on the road cheaply So again, what is the interest like on these? Thanks
  4. Thanks for that. and yeah the 2.3 is nice with power and smooth. needs a 6th gear and loves to drink though. thanks again for the info
  5. I may have a problem with my starter on a 2.3 2001 Galaxy Manual with looking around, i have spotted a starter that is for a 2.3 MK1 Galaxy plus MK2 1.9 Diesel My quetion is, what is the difference between the 2.3 2000 and the 2.3 2001 engine, gearbox and starter combination? Thanks in advance
  6. Stupid question coming up, sorry you have probably heard it from people before so i am sorry in advance. Does anyone have the part number for the front nearside ABS sensor for a Galaxy 2001 2.3 Ghia (larger brake discs, probably makes no difference anyway) Also, as the part will come from the ford parts department in a nice little clear bag with a ford emblem on it, it will probably be stamped with VAG. so is the a VW part number that is for the same part? thanks in advance Also, gotta point out that this thread is well worth the time to read
  7. Hi Mike, cheers for the advise. I had a look around the forum and did spot the number of people who had experianced this. Got the parts off today so that i can check them against the parts the local dealer will want to sell me. The cable from the alternator is charred and obviously been very hot and the fuse has melted. i was going to clean the terminals but decided to buy new. The cable i took off has the date code from before the car was built so i suppose i should count myself lucky it lasted this long. When it is fixed, i might even loose some of the more fustrating problems with the electrics that i have been having for the last couple of years. A side thought, the AA and RAC should have known about this by now and not just blamed the alternator.
  8. Sorry, i know i hardly post and the tis disc has been covered before but; broke down last night, 2 hours i pouring rain with a burning smell of melting electrical insulation. In the cold light of day, yes the fusebox by the battery is melted. I will be replacing this but just in case the Alternator is faulty and caused this i wanted to be prepared to remove it. After looking at the unit, maybe a garage is the best bet but i want to know what is involved. So back on track, my TIS disc was damaged by one of my children and cannot be read. If its an ebay thing again then fine but i just thought i would ask. Thanks for looking and hope to hear from anyone soon Galaxy 2.3 2001
  9. Since my last post, i have done some testing for the best signal. I first said it did not work on the dash but to the side it is fine. I was wrong and i admit that. Last night i had to get out of the house for safety reasons so spent several hours in the car "investigating" (keeping my head down) Anyway, the best place for the tom tom bluetooth V5 navigator system is to place the receiver where the clock is. That little recess holds it quite well but you loose the bottom of the clocks numbers. It picks up 11 sats from there but from the side it could only get 9 So yes i was wrong and will stand corrected.
  10. I know the thread has moved on but going back to the first point about heated screens, if nobody else has a problem then why do i? First used TomTom V3 with wired gps receiver. Could not get a bloody signal anywhere in the car. Eventualy jammed it it the rear window which damaged the trim but got us there. Now i invested(grabbed before it hit the ground as the lorry pulled away) in TomTom V5 on a ipaq with Blootooth receiver. This has great trouble getting a signal through the screen but push it to the side over the vent and it gets a great signal. Although it is supposed to work on batteries, it gets a better signal whilst plugged into the lighter socket (which negates the point of the bluetooth not having wires!) So why do i have trouble then. Hope it shows a bit more information for you
