Thanks very much for the replies, I was hoping it would be something like the blowers drawing the heat away from the engine, Burundi the temp drop took about 5-7 mins in slow moving traffic but was very noticable i could watch the needle moving!. Hopefully when the new aux heater is fitted it should be running as normal, it will be nice to have some heat as it's freezing in the car at the moment  . Dave, just out of curiosity would I be able to see the thermostat to make sure I've got one, please bear in mind I am just a female  . Thanks again. :)

Please could someone tell me what effect the auxillary booster heater has (if any) on the engine temperature. My booster heater is not working and I am currently waiting for a new one to be fitted but I've noticed that if the blowers are on high then the engine temp doesn't increase (normally sits at 90) and if the engine temp is already at 90 and you turn the blowers up then the engine drops down to 50 degrees. Is this normal and if not will it change when the booster heater is fixed?. Ps Sorry if it's a stupid question but I need to know if it's a fault. Pps. Thanks for all the info about aux heaters I didn't even know I had one until I read the posts. Thanks in advance.

Please could someone answer a question for me, I've just changed to a 2001 51 1.9 tdi ghia and have had the air con fixed (new compressor) under warranty so I thought all my problems were over. However as I was a bit chilly yesterday I turned the heating up but not a lot happened, it was just getting barely warm about 10 mins later. After searching on here I have read a lot of posts about the aux heater but this seems to kick in if the outside temp is about 10 degrees, if it is warmer than this should I be getting some heating from the CC and should I be worried about the aux heater, the car is still under warranty should I get them to check the system?. Any help gratefully received. Thanks Donna

Remote Central Locking.. 98 2.8v6 Ghia X
brethy replied to dmrolyat's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Hi I had a 1997 2.8V6 Ghia X which did have remote central locking but I don't know if this was standard. Donna  -
If a condenser goes will it take the compressor with it, am having a new condenser fitted and need to know if there may be further problems. Thanks

Thanks very much for the replies Matt we'll be looking very carefully and hopefully find something suitable. Thanks again (still don't know where the scuttle drain is though  ) Donna  Ps. Just had a thought, if we were lucky enough to find a mk2 115bhp what is the special oil needed and where do you get it from? Thanks

Thanks very much for the replies, how would you define high mileage 80,000, 100,000? would this put you off?. Matt we've seen that one on Autotrader it looks rather nice I could certainly live with one like that, mind you after the Maverick a wheelbarrow looks good :) (no offence meant to other Maverick owners I just couldn't take to it  ). Thanks Donna :D

Sadly I had to let go of my 2.8 V6 Galaxy due to not owing my own oil well and have spent the last 6 months in purgatory driving a 2.7 TDI Ford Maverick, major culture shock  . Well enough is enough and we have decided to go back to our beloved Galaxies, but which one?. We need a diesel as we tow a caravan and after searching the site I have discovered that this should be at least 110bhp if possible, what year do the mark 2 115bhp start at?. Are there any other pointers anyone could give me please, we will have a budget of

Hi Mike thanks very much for the reply, I have to say that I haven't had any problems going up hills and, apart from it being rather annoying there doesn't seem to be any reduction in power or performance. We also tow a caravan and it pulls it with ease and this also doesn't seem to affect the car. It is more noticeable at 30mph but still does it higher speeds I don't know if it is a problem or not  . Donna

Please could anyone help, I have a 1997 2.8 V6 4x4 and when driving at 30mph the revs needle gives a little flicker between 1500 and 2000 revs accompanied by an engine surge noise. It only lasts a second and just looks like a waver on the needle but it is very annoying, other than this the car is running ok and there has been no change in petrol consumption. Thanks for any help. Donna

Thanks for the replies Ivor and Rusty I think we're going to go with it and just see how much difference the towing makes overall, oh and buy some shares in BP just in case :) . But if anyone does actually tow with a v6 I would be very grateful to hear from them. Thanks Donna

Thanks for that Fredt, I was under the impression that if you could afford it, the 2.8 V6 made a good towing vehicle due to it's kerbweight and pulling power. I've never thought about the clutch (the fact that it's an automatic, yes!) do you know of any problems with the clutch whilst towing?. Also thanks Shashman, I've looked into LPG conversion but it's too costly in relation to the value of the car and how long we're likely to keep it, also they told me it was a pig of a job and they didn't like doing them!. The other thing I'm toying with is getting a small (fiesta 1.1) runaround and keeping the Galaxy for family outings and towing. I've also considered Mondeo's as we've had a couple of these and like them, but we need to watch the kerbweight and they're not heavy enough, and, like you, I would also swap to a diesel Galaxy as we love the car so much. Decisions, descisions I'm getting quite paranoid. Donna :)

Thanks Seatkid now you're starting to worry me  ,does anyone tow with one of these?. Pleeeaaaasse. Donna B)

Thanks Shashman but does that mean you think I'm mad  , also do you mind me asking where you found the info on towing with a V6 I've done a few searches on here but not really found anything, hence the question. Donna B)

Hi folks this is my first post on here but I have been an avid reader for ages. I wonder if someone could please put my mind at rest, I've owned my 2.8 V6 galaxy for a couple of years now (1997 R GhiaX 4x4 and no the air con doesn't work!) and am just about to take delivery of a caravan. Whilst I know the Galaxy is more than up to the job of towing I am a bit concerned over fuel costs as I know how much it costs to run without towing. If anyone has any experience of towing with one of these please could you let me know how you found it and did you need a second mortgage, as I really don't want to have to get rid of the car. Thanks Donna  Oops forgot to add I know Shashman has posted a similar question but I didn't want to hijack their thread. B)
