Ta Bigjeeze, I have no control box under the passenger seat, all the motors work on the windows, its just strange that when I have the car running just the drivers window doesn't work, as for the rear wash/wipe, I had repaired, with solder, all the deffective wiring. So there must be another dodgy split somewhere down the line. Seems strange when I done a continuity test on all the wires????

Just an update for people a straight 2.8 ag4 gearbox will not go into a gal made for 4x4 because the right hand side drive shaft is to short. But have got round it by removing the torque converter housing of the newer one n replaced it with the 4x4 differential of my old one. Mind you I'll never ever do it again, i'll pay the

I have just purchased a auto gearbox from a scrappies...the one in my car is a 4x4 version but the prop shaft has been removed for the past 2 years, however the one I have purchased in not for a 4x4 but is for a 2.8. Now my question is will it fit in my car? I am also asuming that I will have to have the gearbox linked with the ECM? Can anyone clarify these for me please?

Right lets see who knows their stuff, my drivers windows works wen keys are in the ignition befor I turn the car over, up, down no problems but as soon as I start the car it no longer wants to play ball. Now I know it can't be the wires in the door because all checkout fine. Some did suggest it was the key cylinder but I have my doubts. Secondly my rear wash/wipe doesn't function in anyway or form, there is no sound coming from the washer motor and the wiper doesn't even flinch. Checked the usual suspect, wiring, fuses etc., all ok. So I have 2 mystery problems. Does anyone have a crystal ball to help me on these?

Does anyone in the Liverpool area have a VAG-COM they wish to plug into my Galaxy? I had major problems with the gearbox last year and its been sitting out in front of my house for nearly a year because I got so despondant with it. So I have decided to sell as it stands. Can't afford the

privilage, just read the docu's and it says market value:- car replaced with same make, model and colour, if one cannot be found then market value will be paid.

If that is trade what is it worth at market value? Hypothetically, what if the insurance company go by average mileage or are told of a lesser mileage than what is on the clock what the value be then?

Tell me if the FDS system is the same as the VAG COM system and, yes and, can they diagnose auto transmissions to find faults mechanically or electrically?

Update: Took out all the transmission oil, removed drain plug, guess what its broken, so I put 3lts back in, still the same. Going to get drain plug n do it all again, third time lucky...lol

Does anyone know the part number for an auto transmission overflow pipe for a '97 Gal or the drain plug. Don't know which part is which because Haynes manual says the other way round to what I think it is. In other words its the longer part...lol

can anyone shed some light on what could happen if an auto gearbox is overfilled with transmission oil? basically would there be any lasting damage caused?

Just wat I was thinking seatkid...I'm trying to determine whether there was damage when the pipes burst or whether by his incompetance of over filling. I think it is the latter because I have driven 500+ miles since it was refilled without any problems and the this slipping occured! Does anyone know what happens when an auto box is overfilled? What problems occur or can putting the oil level back to normal will eventually rectify the problem?

Just to let everyone know, took of drain plug and about a 1 1/2 litres tran oil came out, panic... took it for a spin, jumping in all the gears. So topped it up little by little and now back to where I started. Now someone tell me its the oil because it can't be unless I'm doing it wrong?
