  1. If you are not getting any heat inside the vehicle it may also suggest that the feed to the heater matrix or the matrix itself is blocked.
  2. He's a brummie....what do you expect  Actually I was born in Yorkshire
  3. My Mk2 1.9tdi has not blown warm air for the last three days despite the fact the engine seems to warm up much faster than normal. I suspect a blockage, even frozen pipes somewhere. Anyone got a nice warm room I can put my Gal in for a few hours to warm her up an defrost her?
  4. My Mk2 Tdi has suddenly stopped blowing warm air despite the fact the temperature gauge is showing normal, when you say "heater matrix" what exactly do you mean?
  5. The thermostat is located on the engine block just below the spherical vacuum chamber. You will need a torx bit with a extension shaft, can't remember the size. Don't forget to get a replacement "O" ring for the thermostat.
  6. Poor connection battery side? Check the Fuse/Connector block alongside the battery. It's renowned for burning out.
  7. Try Euro Car Parts Link I got a camshaft position sensor for A Mk2 Galaxy from them
  8. My Mk2 does the same. Check to see if your coolant level is dropping. If it is, like mine, you may have a leaking heater matrix. Try some radiator sealer.
  9. Several breakers use ebay, I suggest you have a quick look there.
  10. Check/replace the camshaft position sensor. The one on my Mk2 Tdi had been disconnected for some reason. Starting for me was always 2-3 seconds turnover before firing. Now the sensor has been replaced it fires up immediately.
  11. My amber oil level warning light comes on at random intervals, sometimes after a couple of days, sometimes after a couple of weeks. The oil level is always fine. Is this a sensor problem? if so can you point me to it so I can replace it. 2001 Galaxy 1.9 Tdi
  12. I think the trip computer is standard on the Ghia model, sorry, no idea if you can retrofit one.
  13. The usual suspect for this sort of fault is breaks in the wiring loom as it passes from the door to the door pillar through the rubber boot. Good luck!
  14. If you use your remote key to central-lock your doors try pressing the lock button twice. This will lock the doors, activate the alarm, then deactivate the alarm. I understand you can do the same with the key in the lock by "locking" the doors twice.
  15. WD40 will ease the mechanical action of the brake switch but if it gets on the electrical contacts inside it may very well act as an insulator.
  16. A few years ago I also owned a P-reg 2 litre Galaxy. The same thing happened to me on the way home from work one night. It turned out to be a nut loose that fixed the wiper mechanism to the motor spindle as I recall. The motor was turning but the wipers were not oscillating. Worth a look I suppose. Easily fixed once you get the scuttle panel off. Otherise, according to my trusty Haynes Mk1 manual it could be fuses 28, 12 11 23.
  17. It's possible your indicator stalk is still biased to the side that the parking lights are on. This is a feature on many modern cars - you can turn the sidelights on one side only with the indicator stalk depending on which side of the road you are parked.
  18. I have just taken delivery of this: - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vag-Com-USB...omotiveQ5fTools It works a treat and even comes with the Vag-Com software and drivers. All that for under
  19. I've just ordered a lead off Ebay and downloaded the software. Just eagerly awaiting for the lead to arrive so I can try it out.
  20. Just like to say hello everyone. Owned a 2 litre petrol Mk 1 for 5 years, then a LandRover Discovery for three years and just bought a 2001 Mk 2 tdi. Thank you for a great resource. I am certain I will be availing myself to the servicing guides in the very near future.
  21. I ran a Mk1 two litre Galaxy for five years. Then for some reason, had a hankering for a LandRover Discovery so I traded the Gal in. Although I loved the Discovery I really missed the old Gal. So much so, I have just sold the Disco and bought a 2001 Mk2 tdi. I'm having loads of fun getting to know Galaxy again and trawling through the forums for useful hints and tips.
