  1. Late answer, but it's worth reading this: http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html I recently bought some used Galaxy Ghia alloys and they just happen to be ET59, but everything else tells me that the ET for my MkI should be 35-45. Haven't fitted them yet but I will most likely now try to sell them on eBay and recover some of the cost. Hope that helps.
  2. The PCD for nearly all VAG cars is 5x112 with a few exceptions (pre-2003 Audi A3, pre-MkV Golf). The PCD on the new Galaxy is I believe 5x108. The offset (ET) for the MKI/II/III Galaxy is 35-45
  3. On the MarkI Galaxy, the cubby is at the bottom and is easily removed to gain access to semi-concealed screws which keep the outer trim attached to the sub-frame. I installed a two-piece system some time back (now reverted to the original unit) and struggled to fit/remove those screws. Also, on the Gal, the back of the radio unit has a plastic male thingamajig which locks into a slot on the bulkhead to stop the radio tilting, I guess. Your Alhambra would be similar to the Galaxy MkII, so not sure whether fixing points have changed, but just a couple of things to bear in mind.
  4. Mark 3 wheels fit a Mondeo so they won't fit a Mark 2
  5. Wasn't there some scandal of stand-ins taking driving tests? And also about examiners passing people for a, ahem, fee? --------------- Our way, most people drive in the middle of the bloody road, even when there's bags of room either side of the white line running down the middle of the road. And they don't move over even when they see someone coming head-on. Don't get me started on Mways! Overtaking, back in left lane, then slow down. WTF did you overtake me for in the first place? To slow me down? I like travelling after 11:00pm and I see juggernauts in the third lane all the time. Once, I saw a truck in the first lane, another two in the middle, so I pull out into third lane, and one of the bleeding trucks wants to send me into the bloody barriers! You guessed it: LHD EU truck, got a blind spot so he can't see me overtaking him. Unless he was just nasty. --------------- @mumof4: gartree school -- leics or lincs?
  6. A husband wrote a letter for his wife When the man came home, he found the following letter on the dining room table:
  7. My auto box is the AG4.. if that also starts with "fux" it would be bloody appropriate as I've now had two "fux'd" boxes and am on my third one.
  8. A special & personal thank you to steve.
  9. The reason it's called a starter inhibitor switch is because thats exactly what it does: that little stud which moves up and down on a little cam has a copper strip which opens and closes the switch to prevent you starting the engine in any gear except "P" & "N". If it went missing, your motor would just not start. I had a situation where the copper strip broke off and had to short circuit the wiring to even start my motor. If this stud gets stuck and closes the starter circuit then you would be able to start in any gear, unhealthy on an auto box.
  10. It's an auto, so try the starter inhibitor switch. They wear out over time and you don't have to buy a new one as they can be repaired (I'll post photos one of these days), hopefully!
  11. Not a joke... funny nontheless 1. I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking too good, either. 2. I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound the make as they go flying by. 3. Am I getting smart with you? How would you know? 4. I would explain it to you, but your brain would explode. 5. Someday we'll look back on all of this and plow into a parked car. 6. There are few personal problems that can't be solved by the suitable application of high explosives. 7. Tell me what you need, and I'll tell you how to get along without it. 8. Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. 9. Needing someone is like needing a parachute. If he isn't there the first time you need him, chances are you won't be needing him again. 10. I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem. 11. Last night I lay in bed, looking up at the stars in the sky, and I thought to myself, "Where the hell is the ceiling?!" 12. My reality check bounced. 13. On the keyboard of life, always keep one finger on the escape key. 14. I don't suffer from stress; I'm a carrier. 15. You are slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through a puddle of peanut butter. 16. Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons because, to them, you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. 17. Everyone is someone else's weirdo.
  12. The multi-core looks more like a connection to an amp otherwise it would have eight wires coming out of it for two front and two rear speakers, which is standard for all ISO-compliant units. Ford are famous for feeding sound thru an external amp -- our Scorpio used to have this. (I may be right, I may be wrong) Also, the unit appears to lack cooling slots which is a give-away for in-built amplifier.
  13. My nephew drives a BMW X5 that has factory fitted tints on both driver & passenger door windows!!
  14. If you take a cable from the +ve terminal to an earthing point on the chassis, does this not make all the -ve terminals on all the various connectors +ve?
  15. Maybe slighty off-topic, but in a similar vein...... is this for real??? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Unlock-your-Ford-Gal...1QQcmdZViewItem If it IS for real, will it work on my 1996 2.0L GLX Auto?
  16. Can you post a picture of the back of the unit?
  17. I am absolutely and thoroughly naffed-off with the buried-in-the-rear-quarter-window aerial. My radio is permanently tuned to Radio-5 Live (693 - don't even mention 909) and the reception near the city centre is absolutely cr@p! I already have an external roof-mounted phone aerial fitted about six inches in from the rear tailgate. Thinking of fitting a whip aerial (blue to match my car) just forward of the sunroof. Anyone else abandoned the standard aerial for an after-market fit? Comments/suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.
  18. Sounds like my nephew's BMW X5 3.0d Sport (except for the 100mpg bit)!

  20. The one on the right looks suspiciously like an aerial connector for a mobile phone? Could you upload a larger picture?
  21. Is the Cortina a runner? Could you upload some pics?
  22. You will need an Allen key to remove the gear-knob. Once you have removed the knob, pull on the sleeve over the stick, prise the cover from the console (the one that read P/R/N/D etc) and at the base of the gear stick there is the starter inhibitor switch (which costs
  23. Isn't this what you need? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-TO-ISO-Radio-wi...1QQcmdZViewItem
  24. Thank you so much for this offer. You should receive an email soon.
  25. I ordered a TIS off eBay from a bloke up in Leeds. Paid by cheque, which he cashed but never sent me the disk. Went to eBay to complain and he was no longer a member. If anyone knows a decent chap who will honour to send a TIS, please give us some info.
