  1. Does anyone know if the KE60 key has a place for the transponder chip? I plan to remove the chip from a standard black manual key.
  2. Investigating why the electric window in the middle drivers side doesn't work... only to remove the door fascia to find that the whole window is being held up by two batons of wood. Can we have a vote on most original customisation?
  3. I can always get first if I double clutch first. If that helps anyone diagnose it. :P
  4. I'm having problems selecting first gear in my 1998 2.3 Manual. Sometimes the gear selects without problem, other times (~50%) the gear will grind and the gearstick will wobble, or the gearstick with completely jump out of gear. I've searched the forum but I'm finding it difficult to come to any conclusions. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I'm hoping it isn't going to be an expensive fix, as I've only just bought this baby. Other than the 1st gear problem, she is in top shape.
  5. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone with a Gal.
  6. The car is alarmed. Couldn't set it off from inside (might have rushed), but I could set it off by closing the door so it catches but isn't closed, setting the deadlock then trying to open the door. Now, what do I do to get hold of some infrared remote key fobs?
  7. Ok, having digested the replies here, and having done some further research on this form I can conclude: a) I have the Infrared sensors, which suggests I have infrared remote unlocking. ;) I also have the mesh pattern on the b pillar (behind each front seat) which suggests I have the factory fitted volumetric alarm system. Reasonable conclusions?
  8. Hmmm, I do have a red LED that flashes on the drivers door when I lock the door... interesting.
  9. I've bought a 1998 Ford Galaxy 2.3i Ghia X, and I was wondering if anyone could answer me a couple of questions. a ) Does the car feature remote central locking? I have no remote key for it (just a red key, and a black key). If it does feature it, how much can I expect to pay to get a remote key that works with the car? b ) Does the car have an alarm? I don't think it has, but I can't say I'm sure about it? Any tell-tale signs to look out for? And if it doesn't, how much might I expect to pay to get one fitted (yes, I am a bit of a car noob!) Thanks in advance :D
  10. I've bought a 1998 2.3 Ghia X model and I'm really impressed with it. Might have got more MPG from another engine, but this car really shifts for its size and never feels underpowered. Can say I'm happy so far.
  11. Swapped the whole sensor from the back door to the drivers door and it works fine now. Will have to go hunting at the scrap yards to see if they have the part. Just wanted the light warning working really.
  12. It's gone! The rubber part and 'the stick' are all gone (hope I'm not losing anyone with technical terms here). Where can I pick one up from, and/or can I easily steal one from the other doors to use so I don't end up leaving my lights on.
  13. Sounds like something to look at. Didn't know where that sensor was, not got my Haynes manual yet  Thanks guys, something to get my teeth in to.
  14. I have a problem with the drivers door on my 98 model 2.3 Galaxy Ghia X. When I open the drivers door, the light at the bottom of the door doesn't illuminate, the 'door open' light on the dash doesn't illuminate, and when I have the engine turned off and the headlights on, I get no warning sound. I haven't tried any fixes yet. I'll replace the bulb on the light to see if that is a problem/the problem, but I thought I'd ask if there are any common faults as the three things seem to be related.
  15. Well I've done it - I've bought a 1998 model Ford Galaxy 2.3i Ghia X. She's in beautiful condition, one dent mark, one crushed sill, very clean interior and she runs like a dream. It had the clutch replaced a couple of months ago, and you can tell the difference. My car expert friend couldn't believe the good condition of the car for its age, and he gave the engine a good battering on the test drive, and it responded well to everything. I sorted out the insurance and gave it a drive home, and I have to say that it is a great car. I hope that I've got many carefree years ahead driving this baby.
