  1. Hi all I have a Galaxy 2.3 ghia and was wondering if vag com hardware/software will work on my car, I was informed that the petrol engine fitted from manufacture is a Volkswagon engine? is this true and if so what Diagnostic device can i use? thank you. Regards.
  2. thanks tiny ive been reading through the forums and found members having more or less the same problem and using clear silicone sealant, to repair there leaks. so im going to have a good look at it first and see how big the problem really is, if its a small leak then i will go with the silicone, (interior only) if its a big job then i will take your advice and let the pro's have a look. cheeers mate regards
  3. hi all found a pool of water on the front passenger floor under carpet, coudnt find leak, so i washed the car and found beads of water coming in on the side of the windscreen, i will have to strip interior to see how bad it is. i think the late frost we had a few weeks ago is the culprit. does anyone know what type of sealant i will need? thank you.
  4. ok i took out relay 30, took off the cover and found a bad solder connection, resoldered and now ok. thanks again NickpV.
  5. Thanks NikpV
  6. Hi all im having trouble starting my galaxy, its only now and then. when ive got the car running and go for a drive, if i switch off ignition then try to start up again, it just turns the engine over, it wont fire up. i can hear a relay ticking under the dashboard on the right hand side as its turning over, then it stops ticking an starts up? anyone had this problem. ive also had another problem which ould be the cause of my 1st one, the rear screen wash stopped working couldnt find any blockage, i took off the passenger door trim, to expose the loom and found my carpet soaking wet, the tubing were it had been joined had come off, about a pint of water, i checked the circuitry under the passenger seat, there was little water but it all seemed dry, just the loom in the front was saturated, could this be the problem? i have dryed it all up but still had the fault afterwards, but again not all the time. im thinking maybe a relay. thanks ford galay 2.3 ghia 02 registration

  8. Hi all im attempting to renew my front brake discs and pads, because my galaxy failed its mot on one of them, they said one was pitted. what i would like to know is the torque for the two 19mm bolts when i refit them. galaxy 2.3 ghia 02 reg. thanks regards
  9. hi maximus the diy kits are an option. but if you say that your system has no pressure at all then you may have a major leak somewhere, who knows. and if thats the case then you would be wasting your money on a diy kit. your best taking it to someone who knows what there doing. they will put your system under vacuum to dispel any moisture and if there is a leak that is when they will find it, then once leak has been repaired they will recharge you system. hope this helps
  10. you can check here for how a relay works, may help you in testing your own. http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/relay.htm hope this may be useful to you. regards
  11. Its a usual 2.3 Zetec Gal, year 2000 early mk 2 on a W plate. Couldn't find any blown fuses but will change #34 anyway ... assuming fuse #34 is the correct one to change that is? Other than that any other ideas assuming its not the resistor pack..... ;) hi m8 i believe there is a couple of relays on the galaxy, not sure if its for your model. its relay k257 blowercut off. relay k256 front blower. cant help you on where to find them, if there there, but surely must be near the fuse box. hope this helps regards

  13. ordered my coil pack today, pick up tomorrow, i just hope this cures the fault, cos it cost me bladdy
  14. hello again ive been messing around with the car, trying to work things out and ive found that, all 4 cylinders have a nice blue spark, but if i move the spark plug away from the engine about 1/ 1.5 inches away from the cylinder head, i find that i get a strong spark from plug to engine block. i tried this on all cylinders, 1 -3 fine, cyls 4 would only spark 1/4 inch away. so im thinking my problem must be the coil pack, what i dont understand is if the coil pack fires two plugs at once then why arent both cyliders affected. cyls 4 is still the fault im getting on scanner, so i think i will buy another pack and cross my fingers it works. the car is like a kitten when idleing. thanks all
  15. Hi all tested my coil pack yesterday using a fluke 77 meter, got a reading 9.40k ohms on 2 & 3, 9.42k ohms on 1 & 4 took off the vehicle and tested it today now getting 10. 40k ohms 2 & 3 and 10.43k ohms on 1 & 4. i was not getting reading from 1 & 4 yesterday and put it down to a faulty coil, but i think it was my test lead. are these readings within the ranges they should be, as i have no way of comparing them with original values. galaxy 2.3 ghia 2002 thank you
  16. Hi all on my previous post had trouble with malfunction engine light coming on. problem found, but no solution just yet. used obd2 reader dtc p0304, new plugs champion E2 supposed to be equivilent to what is in galaxy 2.3, 2002, not too sure if they are. p0304 still coming up. ok, i have swapped spark plug leads 3 + 4 to see if no. 4 lead was dodgy, no change, i swapped jets 3 + 4 around hoping to find a P0303 fault but im still gettin P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected. put in some jet cleaner. cant think of much else really. will check for vacuum leak if someone can tell me wgere to look, if it was a vac leak then why cylinder no.4 fault and not the other cylinders. any way of testing the coil, its a 4 in one on the cylinder head. thank you regards
  17. ok fellas got my obd2 reader today came up with P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected i erased this code several times and went for a drive light flashing on/off not all the time mind, then it stayed on perminent. came up with the same error P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected new plugs in so its not that. i tried getting the jet out but it was stuck solid, then i heard you had to release the pressure 1st? so i left that and put jet cleaner in petrol, im gonna check the lead. any more info on what else to check if i find no probs with the lead etc. thank you. the hego sensor i think is under the car between the exhaust and cat, if thats the case then you would be better off buying one and fitting it yourself. just undo it with a spanner and unplug the wire. count the number of wires on it b4 you buy and compare. if im wrong one of our members will put you straight. this will be cheaper than paying fords.
  18. VAGCOM may not read engine fault codes through "Module 1 Engine" but you can use the generic OBD2 scanner feature within VAGCOM to read off any codes from the engine. Then just cross reference the fault code with the OB2 table. thanks for replies fellas going to order OBD2 reader, will keep you posted regards
  19. hi all still having trouble with my galaxy as in previous post. im looking at buying this to try and pinpoint the fault/s: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ADME:B:AAQ:UK:1 i have read a few posts to say galaxy is compatible with obd2 and vag com not fully compatible ie will read error codes, but not engine faults etc. so would like to know if this unit is fully compatible with galaxy 2.3 ghia petrol 2002 to access all codes etc. i dont want to buy it if i cant access engine codes. thank you
  20. thanks whitty im thinking of getting one of these. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ADME:B:AAQ:UK:1 dont know if its compatible with galaxy, so i'll start a new post. cheers
  21. hi all got some new plugs from halfords, not the set i wanted but the gave me a set of champion copper plugs an equivilent. put in plugs tick over sweet, but driving is the same and engine warning light staying on or flashing, its as if there is dirt in one of the jets, but could be electrical so im not sure where to go from here. i disconnected battery for 10 min, and now the engine warning light is not on, tried driving again, still sluggish especially in the lower revs, the warning light flashes on now and then. any more tips on correcting this problem. thank you regards
  22. do your brake lights work okay? yes they work fine??
  23. Hi all i started up my galaxy today and the engine warning light come on, started flashing while driving. is this the coil pack fault? if so do they come seperateley and how much to buy and will this stop the engine warning light comeing on once the faulty part is replaced, or will it need the vag to reset it. can you tell me where to find it. is there a way to test the fault with a fluke tester? or is there another fault that would cause this. the car seems af if it is not running on 4 cylinders so to speak. thank you ford galaxy 2.3 glx 02 registration petrol regards
