These tpms valves gets corroded within a year. When I bought my Galaxy I had not noticed that the securing nut was split on 2 tpms valves. One came off when I had a service and the dealer replaced it free of charge but the other broke apart when I was driving on the motorway. It deflated within 30 seconds and luckily I pull over to the hard should and got recovery to take me to a tyre garage who put a normal valve and a new tyre as the wheel had damaged the tyre. These valves are a safety hazard as the thread break off or once corroded will crack and break off while you are driving. I'm not sure how Ford's get away with it. I have decided they are not worth and replace all with rubber valves. I have had 3 flat tyres with broken valves within 18 month. On my last car I had 2 flats with nails in 10 years.

My Mk3 2.0Tdi had the spanner light and was reset by the dealer when serviced. Wish I knew this then...Thanks for that.

Had a aircon issue with my Mk3 Galaxy, dealer re-gassed but it lasted only 1 days. They took it in again and found the aircon pipe to rear was leaking. Had to wait a week for parts to arrive. Replaced under warranty when car was 13 months old and all is well. Perhaps you may have a leaking pipe.

Had to change my rear brake pads on my Ford Galaxy Mk3 1.9 Tdi. Search internet but found no help so I thought I will let you know how I changed them, it will probably apply to S-Max as well. Each side follows the same procedure. 1. Took wheel off. 2. Using 13mm and 15mm spanners undo two 13mm bolts that hold the brake caliper piston assembly to the brake pad carrier. The 15mm spanner is to hold the nut on the brake caliper piston assembly. These bolts are behind the carrier so will come out from the back. 3. Once both bolts are out, you can then lift the brake caliper piston assembly away, you may need to wriggle it to push the piston back slightly. 4. The carrier is now exposed with the brake pads. Life the pad out and the two metal slide plates. These are plates comes with the new brake pads. The black coated plate goes at the top. and the other at the bottom. Put the new plates and pads are back in. 5. I got a Laser tool from Halford to push the piston back but I heard you can do it other ways but probably much harder. 6. The new pads also come with two new 13mm bolts. Put the brake caliper piston assembly back over the pads and use the new bolts and tighten to specified torque. 6. Also I took the cap off the brake top up cylinder under the bonnet and remove enough brake fluid to set it back to the maximum level. 7. Replaced wheel. Quite an easy job.

This happened to my 2008 galaxy, tried to adjust pressure and valve thread broke but luckily it was still hanging on so screwed a larger dust cap on until I booked into a ford dealer. Phoned Ford customer support and they said they can't say it is under warranty until ford dealer had inspected it. Took it into dealer who had to order part and tried to charge me

Finally got Ford dealer to give me the removal detail from their repair manual. You need the 4 correct Ford release keys 2 left handed and right handed ones. Remove the trim directly above the dvd nav unit. It has 3 holes for the three switches and it stretches from the left to the steering wheel. Start from the passenger end use a flat screw driver to prise the trim off. There are 4 or 5 clips on this end and around 3 on the steering wheel end. Once trim is off you can remove two screws from the top of the unit . Prices off the trim surround around the gear shift and which is next to the dvd unit. Remove 2 screws under Dvd unit. On the dvd nav unit the two bottom corners pieces of the unit comes off just by lifting the top edge. This will expose the 2 bottom slots for the release key. Now put in the keys left for left and right for right and pull unit out. Hope this helps others.

Ooops spoke too soon, my parking sensors are playing up so removed towbar piece and all is well again. Will fit only when I need my maxxraxx bike rack.

Managed to fit the tow bar (Tow trust TF176) now. Removing back bumper is straight forward if you have a small ratchet set. 1. Remove 4 torx screws on bumper top edge and 2 torx screws either side. 2. 2 10mm bolts on either side behind rear wheel. 3. 2 screws behind wheel cover on either side behind rear wheel. 4. Go underneath and disconnect the one wiring connector near where the towbar will be. 5. Get a helper and pull out from each side and the whole rear bumper slides horizontally out. For the Tow trust mounting bar. 1. Remove the original ford metal bump bar 3 10mm bolts left and 4 to the right. 2. Slide the two tow bar mounting bars into the chassis rail that was hidden behind the bump bar. 3. Tighten up bolts. nearside one slightly tricky as it is behind rear exhaust. Had to unhook the exhaust pipe at rear and middle. 4. Cut the rear bumer 65mm and 230mm in to allow for the towbar. 5. Put all back in. Notice that the underneath was full of mud so fixed rear mud flaps as well. The parking sensor are still working with constant noise at around 9inches from wall. Hope this helps anyone thinking of fitting a towbar

John, I just tried to fit a Tow Trust towbar and i'm bit stump on how to remove the rear bumper. I have removed the 4 screws at the top and 1 screw on either side next to the rear wheel. Also two nuts underneath. The bumper is still fairly stuck to the car. Any advise. Thanks

I got a 2008 2.0TDCi Galaxy Ghia with the DVD Navigation. I have been able to bond both my Nokia 6680 and N95 quite easily. First you have to switch on Bluetooth in the Galaxy. Next on your mobile start bluetooth and then search for Ford Audio. It should pick it up and then enter the default code 0000 on your mobile. Also set to Remote sim to Yes on your mobile if there is an option I now have 2 registered mobile which switches on automatically when you get into the car. I think all the mk3 galaxy will work in s similar fashion Hope this helps

Hi, I bought 4 release keys to remove my Dvd Navingation unit from the dashboard of my 2008 Galaxy. There are 2 slots at the top of the unit which I manage to insert the release keys. I tried to push outwards and pull but to no avail. Does anybody know whether there are 2 slots at the bottom, I can't see anything. Cheers

My 08 plate 2.0 TDCi galaxy climate control is faulty. Took it back under warranty and dealer said it was a pipe leak. It had already been regassed a month ago, they gassed it again and now will wait for part to arrive before taking back. Seems llike this a common proble. Willtake out the 4th and 5th year warranty at this rate.

Tailgate Lock
hotleaduk replied to mutleybrookes's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yes I had the same problem, it was always locked and I had to use the key to unlock. The wire in the the tailgate was broken, soldered it and all was well -
Rear Wiper Operation
hotleaduk replied to mike99's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
They must have used cheap wires as mine had three wires broken off. Rear wiper, top brake light and read tailgate unlock solenoid. I went to Halfords and bought the correct size wires and dismantled the plastic trim, pulled back the rubber covering and soldered the wires by trimming the old wires and then adding new wires thru the rubber covering and then soldering both ends. The read wiper fuse was also blown. It all works now. -
You need a VAG-COM to tell you if abs sensor is gone. cleaning it won't fix it.
