  1. That's fine - thought it was just me being stupid. The key does do the windows if i put it in the lock so that'll do nicely. Thanks for your replies.
  2. Hi all, So far i've only had minor wear and tear issues which the forum has helped me to sort out. Here's hoping my luck continues.............. My newest thing that i'd like to sort out one way or another is to do with the global opening/closing. My remote key locks and unlocks all the doors (so is programmed to the car - yes?) but doesn't operate the windows up and down if i hold the button down. It's the radio type key. The batteries in it seem a little weak as i do have to be quite close to the car when using it. Do you think changing them will solve this? The obvious answer is try it and see. Or is there something else i could do? Thanks.
  3. Haha. :D :D :o Such a simple thing and i didn't even think to check it!! The button was stuck. It was starting to bug me too. Thanks for your advice Joey - goes to show the beauty of this forum. Many thanks. Marc
  4. I'm having trouble working out what i can expect from the rear heater. I've got front and rear climate controls on the dash - no other controls towards rear etc. The hand book's no help. I can use the front section ok but can't seem to figure the rear one out. Should it work the same as the front? Is it working off the same system? For example - when i got in last night it said 9oc. put both climate temps to 25 and turn the fan speed up. Front one works fine but the rear one returns to minimum speed. I turned it back up to full, can hear it blowing full speed but then returns to minimum within 10 seconds. The symbols on the dash show me it's slowing down i just don't know why it won't stay on. Is it the external temp? I've read up about aux/booster heaters and had a look under the car. Can see two pipes running from engine area to rear wheel arch where the disapper up behind and into car. The rear blower unit is over this wheel arch internally. There is NO exhaust pipe sticking out anywhere or any unit with a glow plug. Am i missing something? Could anyone tell me how it works? A picture of a explanation in a decent handbook, a link to somewhere, anything. Thanks
  5. I had an oil change done on monday at National Tyres. It cost
  6. Thankyou. Thought i'd follow up how the oil change went here where i first mentioned it. I've got to be honest i drove over there today and was sure they'd tell me there'd been a mistake. I wasn't wrong. When the chap saw how much i'd paid he was - shall we say - a bit surprised. A quick phone call to HQ followed but they said they were happy with the booking and to honour it. But if the branch have their way it'll soon be changing for anything over 2L capacity methinks. Other than that they didn't have the filter in but could soon grab one so no probs just a short delay. The filter alone cost

    Fuses

So it would seem but does anyone have accurate listings or should i just hope that i never have to go there. Any help would be appreciated. Would a tsi(?) disc i see mentioned cover the fuses and wiring sufficiently. Could i get one on ebay?
  8. Any joy minimad?? I had the same problem. Thought it was the reversing switch at first but realised the fog light didn't work either and that wouldn't be down to the switch. Took sanjsanj's advice and checked the wiring going into the tailgate and had 9 broken wires!! There's 14 going through there. Was a bit fiddly to bridge the breaks because the connectors i used were quite bulky and i soon ran out of space but got there in the end. took about 3 hours start to finish. Let us know.
  9. Hi all, Today i managed to repair the reversing lights on my sharan. Thanks to searching the forum i knew where to look and saw that the wiring was broken at the top right of the tailgate. Job done and reversing/fog lights all working. My question is...........while first checking the fuses in the car i noticed that they're labelled differently to the owner's manual. For example, in the manual fuse 13 is the horn but in the car it is actually fuse 6. Why are they different? Doesn't the manual cover the 2.8? Is it possible for someone to post the correct fuse listings that correspond with my car. i would appreciate it. I notice that other people have similar problems with identifying which fuse does what.
  10. Also................ I'm taking advantage of an offer i've read elsewhere. National tyres are doing an oil change for
  11. Just wanted to say hi. This is my first people carrier and i'm a ford person at heart so was looking at galaxys but a vw sharan came up at the right time for the right price. I think the forum is brilliant. I've found myself running out to check things on the car midway through threads..........so far i've got slightly damaged/crushed sills at the front, no lights working in the tailgate door and some cleaning out to do in the engine bay - just leaves and stuff - don't want blocked drains!! Am looking forward to joining in now and then and viewing peoples pics and helpful info. Thanks
