  1. Right, thanks for that, if no faults show up at least they will be able to eliminate other possibilities and consider such things as the loom. Are there any reasons why there are problems with the loom, and would just an oil change bring on the problem, or is that just coincidental? Will post any results when I get them (may be a few days with holiday coming up) so that anyone else that has a similar problem can compare. Funny old situation though, car performs really well on light throttle, and build up speed at a steady rate, only has problem when you start to push hard.
  2. New filter and 'O' rings have been fitted - still have problem! Next move is to get it checked with vagcom to see if any faults have"popped" up. As seatkid said, it could be the injector relay wiring loom inder the rocker cover, so will have to wait to see if anything is apparent.
  3. Filter is now going to be replaced by a bosch, with new 'O' rings tomorrow, so will post back results when I get the car back pm. Will be interesting to see if this cures the problem, hope it does, so I can get back to the reliability I've been use to!
  4. The "control valve" I am referring too, is how it is described in the manual I have (Peter Russek) It's the one on top of the fuel filter retained by a clip and sits in the filter body, sealed by two 'O' rings. I've not removed the clip or valve myself, as this was part of the service I wanted done by this independant mechanic. He replced the filter with a Fram model as opposed to OE so wether or not this has some bearing on the problem, I don't know. Car was going really well prior to oil and filter changes, so the whole thing seems to point to some upset on the fuel side. The mechanic is going to get back to me today after talking to a person he knows who works at a VW/Audi outlet as replacing the filter with another one on Saturday had no effect. Will post the outcome.
  5. Many thanks for the suggestions so far, seems there may be a problem with the 'O' ring seals on the control valve, so will have to wait until Monday to see if this has any effect. Will post results for general information.
  6. Hope someone can help, just had my '53 plate Seat Alhambra 1.9tdi 130 SE with 34,200 miles on the clock given an oil and filter change (correct spec oil used) along with a diesel filter change by an independant garage mechanic. Since this, whenever I put heavy load on the engine, such as going up a hill, in any gear the engine "stutters" and holds back. If it was a petrol engine, you would immediatly think it was a misfire. I have checked with a cheap hand held VagCom I have, and no fault codes have shown up. Doesn't go into limp mode, and if you drive steady nothing seems wrong, only under heavier load. Seems to be a fuel problem, so could the new diesel filter be at fault or dragging in air? no leaks are apparent. Has anyone else had this problem, or any pointers of what to do? The mechanic is going to replace the Diesel filter this weekend, but just in case this doesn't work, any responses will be welcome. Many thanks for any anticipated advice anyone can give.
  7. Seat Alhambra owners of 2003/4 130 models may be interested to know that I have just contacted the Seat technical helpline as I was unsure of the correct cambelt and tensioner change times relative to time, as my Alhambra has onle done 30,000 miles. They informed me that the change intervals have just been revised to:- 60,000 miles or 4year whichever is the sooner with the tensioner changed at the same time. The maintenance handbook indicates 40,000 miles but with no time interval given. The Seat helpline previously advised me in 2007 that the cambelt should be changed at 55,000 miles and the tensioner changed at 111,000 miles. Hope this information will be of some use to Seat owners.
  8. Theres NO WAY you would get me up there! And I think I'm nice and high up sitting in my Alhambra! Fair play to the person who got the video - rather them than me. 2003 Alhambra 130tdi SE 30,000 miles
  9. My towbar is fixed, with a protection plate that I bent out of the line of the sensors - worked fine. When towing there seems to be no problems, the sensors do not respond to either my Caravan or an ERD 3ft x 4ft trailer. I don't know how, but when hitched up for towing the sensors seem to accept the rear "obstruction" and remain silent. 2003 Seat Alhambra 130tdi SE 30,000 miles
  10. On my Seat Alhambra there is a push button switch, on the right of the central console which controls the parking sensors. Not sure if the same applies to the Galaxy but worth looking - has the letter "P" on it and flashes in conjuntion with the audio bleep 2003 Seat Alhambra 130tdi SE 30,000 miles
  11. Hi oscar66 Had my 2003 Alhambra for just 6 months when I realised the Booster heater was not working. The Seat Garage it was purchased from after diognosis wanted
  12. Thanks NikpV, I'll try that! although I have already hade the sensor off and checked continuity whilst holding it on the side of the freezer - worked fine, but not sure of actual temp cut in. will do as you suggest and remove it and see if it fires up. Cheers 2003 Seat Alhambra 130 tdi SE 30,000 miles
  13. After a lot of haggling with my local Seat garage they have just repaired my booster heater F.O.C. and it is now working. The problem I know seem to have is that it Fires up every time I start from cold irrespective of the outside Temp. Once its up towards 90 degrees C it throttles back and stops. The Seat handbook does say that the heater will operate if the outside Temp is below 5 degrees OR if the WATER temperature is below 75 degrees. This seems different to how most people describe the heater operation on the forum. Could anybody tell me if this is the normal operation of the heater, or have the Garage somehow set the ECU up incorrectly? In all other respects the heater works really well - no smoke & quick warmup. All comments/answers will be welcome. 2003 Seat Alhambra 130tdi SE 30,000miles
  14. I have just had my booster heater repaired :D and it now operates when the outside temp is 10/11 degrees. It has crossed my mind that instead of the temp. sensor determining when the heater cuts in or not, would it be feasible to fit a switch in place of the sensor,(by the wiper mechanism) operated in the cabin? and therefore manually control the heater operating periods. The general census may well to leave well alone, but any comments on the feasability of this would be appreciated, or perhaps someone has done it already! :D
  15. On purchasing my 53 plate Alhambra 130se tdi in June last year I found the aircon was not working. Seat dealer Garage had vehicle back 5 or 6 times during the first month, and after several system recharges and replacement of minor parts, had to call in a specialist. He soon diognosed compressor problems ond upon removal found substantial swarf damage. Compressor was replaced & system recharged - Has worked like a dream ever since (touch wood)!!!
  16. Have you checked round the back of the wiper arm on the passenger side. Mine was not visible (Galaxy Mk2) and could only be found be feeling around. On mine it's a small metal can with a blue connector. Many thanks naim32 it was exactly where you described, you deserve a :27: Can get down to some basic fault finding now - Aux. heater not working, has been to Seat dealer who "has tried various things" and said that the next step was a new unit
  17. Sorry to jump in on this discussion, but can anyone tell me where the temp. sensor for the Aux. heater is located on a Seat Alhambra 2003 130se tdi. Looked under the scuttle where the wiper mechanism is, but can't see anything. I've looked through the various threads but can't find the info I need. My heater not working! need to bridge out sensor as outside temp is too high at moment to do any checks!!! PLEASE HELP :16:
  18. Your lucky that your exhaust is smoking at all ! at least something is happening. I've just realised that mine has never worked at all. Went to the Seat dealer it was purchased from, (still under second hand warranty) and was told that it was not covered and wanted
