  1. As above really. Pulled the washers today & nothing happened & the wipers stopped. Pulled over to check the fuse & it was OK. Drove on to my Sisters & called the RAC out. He checked the same & pronounced a dead wiper stalk, so I came on here tonight to find more info on it. Lo & behold an easy fix awaited! Just nipped out & sure enogh, fuse 33 (listed as blower, 10amp) had blown. Replaced it & have washers & wipers again! Cheers for that & Happy New Year! Gwaredd.
  2. Hans Motors, Cost was just over
  3. My wife found that our Alhambra (115 PD) was terrible on fuel when the Aux heater broke. We struggled to get 400 miles on a tank, but as soon as we fixed it, it jumped back up to 550+. The Aux heater is there for a reason, so check it's working.

  5. Old topic I know, but I just wanted to add that I find it odd that people find it irritating that you can't do 30mph in 4th. If you use 3rd, not only is it better for the engine as it's in it's sweet spot, it achieves much better MPG than 4th, especially when used in conjunction with cruise control. As for 30mph in 6th. What?! Have some mechanical sympathy man! If you think that hauling 2 tonnes of car along a flat road at 900RPM is not labouring the engine, you are surely mistaken. Try the test. Drive the same flat road in 6th @ 30mph then try it in 3rd, & I think you'll find you'll get a better mpg in 3rd. Cheers, Gwaredd.
  6. Well, the glowplug arrived the next day & I fitted it that evening. Took about 45 mins, as I couldn't find a pink blanket, so that must have slowed me down a bit  Tools used were 7mm, 10mm & 13mm socket & small extension bar, T20 & T25 torx bits & a flatblade screwdriver for levering. I didn't take the fuel pipe off either, as I saw no need. Just removed the end cap & slid it out to reveal the plug. Plug was knackered. The tip of it had started to melt away. New part No. is 0 100 226 340. Cost was just over
  7. Just to update. Went to my Indy earlier today & within 30 seconds he pulled up a list of 5 errors, all the same fault saying, open circuit glow plug. Phoned 2 VW dealers & my local SEAT one, none had heard of the booster heater, let alone the glow plug for it. Luckily I was armed with the part No. which surprised them when it came up on the screen, but they all wanted
  8. Hi all. Great work on this topic. I have an 03 Alhambra 115PD & sods law, the aux heater packed up the moment it turned really cold. The thing is totally silent, so I guess the ECU has locked it out, hopefully due to flameout or faulty glow plug. I'm off the my local VAG indy tomorrow as he has VAG Com, so will hopefully diagnose the problem for me. After spending far too long in work time reading through all the posts here, one thing I noticed that hadn't been mentioned was the location of the bloody fuse! SEAT kindly don't refer to it in the handbook, so I have no idea where it is, or indeed if it's blown. Anyone help on that front? Appart from that, keep up the good work guys! :16:
