  1. VAG-COM will work, but only with the vehicle's VW sourced modules. I have a 2.8 Galaxy & my ebay special VAG-COM lead and downloaded 409 software works just fine. I haven't scanned every address yet so I can't give a definative list, however I do know it works with my engine, gearbox, instrment cluster and HEVAC ECUs. Obviously the 2.3 is different but if it's also got some VW ECUs then VAG-COM will work with them. Cheers, Chrisall.
  2. Hi, our MKII V6 Galaxy feels a little rough under around 1500 revs, especially when it's cold. I've searched the forum & think one or more of the coils may be faulty. I've checked for faultcodes with VAG-COM, but there's nothing stored. I had a look at the coils today, but came across a number of issues: 1) How on earth are you supposed to remove the connectors off the coils? On 3 of mine the little tab that you are supposed to press is broken & I don't want to break the connector any worse than it already is. I was going to remove the coils to have a look at the sparkplugs, but in the end I removed the coils with the connectors still attached. 2) Is it possible to test the coils with a multimeter, or is it just a visual check for cracks, arcing etc? I know one of them has been replaced recently (the one nearest the battery) but the other 5 look like the originals and are certainly tight in the head. 3) Finally, is there a special spark plug socket available for the V6? I have a resonably long (185mm), thin-walled sparkplug socket but it is still too short and too tight in the head to get a grip on the plug & I don't want to snap an insulator when trying to change them. Thanks in advance, Chrisall.
