  1. Yes, i've seen that thread, was wondering if anyone knows a link for a breakdown of the pump to clean/reassemble it? I don't really want to get a manual for 1 pump for a car i might not keep. heh. I think the pump is most likely the culprit.
  2. I've posted about this before and looked through the search answers. But i have some specific questions. So far, we've checked the Pipe...which is new and fitted perfectly. The sensors appear to be working fine in the steering column, brake and clutch pedal. As far as garage can tell the control unit is working fine and the pump "looks" ok. Is there any way to test the individual parts, Control Unit & Pump? To find out what is stopping the whole system from working. The only issue anyone has managed to find so far, is the lack of a light on the dash to indicate that it is working or not...and the fact that it isn't working... Otherwise everything is exactly as its been. What i would like is approx charges. How much would a Brand new part be, what parts are needed to make up the whole, is it worth trusting a breaker for parts? Would a Seat Dealer be able to make any more sence of the system than any other garage? And roughly what sort of price would the dealer charge? Theres no point calling as they always say the same thing "Bring the car and let us have a look and..." and i usually turn up with a baseball bat and an expression. The garages i use have never failed in quality before, so i am hoping it is just a lack of knowledge of the cruise control system which is our main hurdle. Fuel prices have prompted me to look at this issue more seriously, as i am paying
  3. Oddly enough, the problem seems to have fixed itself. Key is working fine again, possibly they were frozen, however i tend to feel it is a sign of wear and tear and replacing them would be a better option. I'll look into the repair kits and see if my mechanic is willing to apply them and replace the locks.
  4. Eating Kebabs.. terrible anology, i rather liked kebabs upto now...fish kebab.. hahaha
  5. Ah i think perhaps it is partially working then, takes a long time for vehicle to slow down, but it does slow, so it isn't cruising, thus maybe hose/pump issue. I could never figure out what or how or why so i forgot about it... Alhambra is V reg, first registered 6/12/1999 2.0 not sure 100% if 2.0i or 2.0... however see no ref to a 2.0 being produced so i assume the i is added...i've even found a booklet that gives me the paint code for it.. which might make removing some of the scars of the road from it abit easier...if i ever get to that point. I'll check the cruise aspect next week then after mech has had a look at the hose etc. Too cold for me to go floundering about near a car and with my luck i'd almost certainly break something expensive. Re: Belt or Chain.. thats semantics for me... its a round loopy thing that goes around some round circular things in the engine...i am guessing it is the engine as its a big noisy thing in the front of the car.. and no it's not the wife, she's usually behind it and left abit. Another question... since i love asking daft questions... why... does my car have two batteries? is one a spare? a backup?...only time i've seen 2 batteries in a vehicle is in landrovers, tractors and er... boats...well boats usually have 12 or so or more... Bamma.. sounds.. insulting...if someone said to me.. i like your bamma i'd prolly assume it was a move on my wife...which would probably result in my handing over the house keys and wishing him luck...
  6. 1998 i think, give me 20mins or so i double check, it sounds more like Niks tho, i have no Set/+ Resume/- buttons, just a slider left to on and button. The steering control aspect on the slider works perfectly, the cruise has never worked.. mechanic looking at hose on tuesday, as car going in for timing belt and to get the locks looked at. Fortunately, my local garage is 25' up the road. Not good if pushing but otherwise a perfect location. Need to take wife to work...so i'll check book and edit in 20mins or so.
  7. It...uh..doesn't sound sexy...i dunno, i just think Alhumbra sounds better than Alhambra...
  8. Yeh i've tried rtfm, but to no avail. it mentions the system and how to repair it and all looks ok. However i am yet to figure out how to actually get it to work. Do i hold the button down and push accel or push accel and hold down, how long do i hold for? Does a light light up on the dash (if so might be broken) the switch control thing works fine, ie push it left, steering goes more solid and brakes also. But the actual ability as far as i am aware to cruise... doesnt... Apologies for being thick, i've been to the local Seat and Ford dealers with this already and at both mech and csa i could find all said the same thing "dunno...rtfm?" Also searched the site, read a few posts, all seem to be "how to fix..." rather than explain what you actually do... to activate it. Seat Alhumbra (alhambra[don't liek having ham in my car's name!]) 2.0i Petrol
  9. Cool thx. I haven't seen the VW version, in fact i don't think i've seen anyone up here driving a VW at all.. of any kind  Seen an american like version of the galaxy (except it was about big enough to fit mine into it..) can't remember name tho. I'll check for spares tho with diff dealers. Even diff ford dealers here have totally and wildly different prices....
  10. Hi folks, Just reading through the posts, this one i also have with my alhumbra, except it has no turbo.. and its petrol... I am wondering if perhaps i am seeing the beginning of the problem that will develope into what has been posted on. Basically all it is and lasts for about 30-60seconds after engine start. I turn key, allow lights on oil temp and fuel to go off, switch engine on, allow engine to warm up 2-3 mins (time it takes to roll a smoke, put seat belt on, make notes on to-do list to clean car) pull away... The car will almost stall, then pickup again and problem doesn't occur again until next day.. This morning, i thought i'd just hold down the clutch and see what the revs did and sure enough, when i push in clutch revs drop from 8krpm to about 2krpm then jumps to 8krpm (normalish tickover) once the engines properly warmed up i can push clutch down and it will drop from whatever rpm it was at to 8k rpm which is the usual tickover. It's just this wierd sudden drop in power and always occurs on first acceleration. If i let car warm up for 20mins (frosty morning, takes 20mins to defreeze window) it still occurs, if i rev engine a few times it still occurs, its exactly when the engine comes under actual strain for the first time. Thoughts? Sensor on its way out? Dirty Injectors? Seat Alhumbra, 2.0i petrol.
  11. Hi folks, I also have this exact issue, except its the Seat Alhumbra, which is identical to the galaxy except for dashboard (as far as i can see) and external appearance. First occurance was last night, key sticking in both front doors unable to get key out. This occuring at same time on both doors would indicate it can't be a physical issue, more a mechanical one. The mechanism is working (brute force prevails, 6'5"x22 stone goes a long way on a key) but it doesnt want to open. Atm i am using the remote to lock and unlock or the rear door. Which works locks/unlocks perfectly. I had originally assumed the locks had frozen, it was -5 outside last night, however this morning, the frost all gone and a slight wind blowing, the locks are still sticking. Spent 10 mins swearing at the car before hulking it out with the key. I am assuming all parts of my alhumbra are pretty much the same as the galaxy? door locks included? or will the locks be completely different? Thus the fix as well?
