Thank you for your reply Bleeno. It was an injector pipe that was replaced and that was because diesel was leaking from it. What I don't understand though is that if it was an injector failure, surely it would happen all the time? When the coil light flashes the car cuts out completely, which scared the crap out of me when i was on the motorway! I'll look to take it to another ford dealer next week, i've never liked my local ford dealer - their whole attitude stinks for some reason. Thank you Insider. I read that and my heart sank - it's build code 2B ;) I took it to a ford dealer near me and they were so offhand with me it was unbelievable! They said that it isn't showing as a problem and the best time to do the diagnostics is straight away when the light flashes. How the hell am i going to do that? The light only flashes every so often and the car then cuts out. i then have to restart the car to go anywhere! I'm praying it's not the first option - i had to have a fuel injector replaced when it began to leak and although the pipe itself only cost 20 quid, they charged me an extra 100 quid for labour! It's got me puzzled though because if it was a real problem, surely it would happen all the time and not just every so often?

Hello, I'm new here and was wondering if someone could please help me? Every now and then the coil light (not the engine management light) flashes and i lose all power in my car. I have to take the key out completely, then put it back in for the car to start again. When she starts up again she is fine, although she does sound a little rough for a few minutes. We had this problem when we first bought the car and it was linked to the clutch (every time i put the clutch in there was a squealing noise and then the coil light would come on). After a struggle with the garage who put the car on a diagnostics machine and couldn't find anything wrong, and accused me of either a) making it up or ;) not knowing which light was flashing, they finally believed me about the clutch and replaced it. Now though, i can't find anything wrong with the car yet the coil light comes on. It only comes on about an average of twice every few weeks, and it used to be when i was stuck in traffic or moving very slowly. Now though, it came on when i was doing 70mph on the motorway! The coil light will flash and then everything will cut out - complete loss of power, no power steering etc etc and it was a very frightening struggle to try and coast accross to the hardshoulder whilst avoiding cars and trucks in the other lanes. I only just made it to the hard shoulder. The car has had another diagnostics test and again nobody can find anything wrong! Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how did you solve it? Please can someone help me because i'm really scared to drive my car now and i need my car to get to work!
