  1. Essentially the car hasn't changed since 1995 so the service schedule hasn't changed. Also, basically no difference for an auto, actually slightly less work (no need to check the operation of the clutch!) As I said, I was quoted
  2. 03 Mk 2 Gal 2.3, auto with LPG conversion. Hi, My vehicle is in a repair center for some minor body repairs. It low mileage with 46,551 on the clock. When I turn on the ignition, it's recently been showing a service light, I had the car serviced about 15 months ago, it does such little millage however about 2000 miles since the last service. I was unhappy with the last service and thought of asking the repair center to do it this time while they have it. With the above millage what should I be asking for or expect. Should it be a forty or fifty thousand mile service as offered me, what is the difference if one? The repair center suggested a fifty thousand mile service as it was less expensive then the forty and said about
  3. Hello big_ kev I agree entirely with what you write. As I said to Greggers, I'm taking it a little personally,---which is silly---but I'm sick to death of the litigious society we live in---- or with the hope of a large sum, the lie or exaggeration of harm in an accident such as this. This type of lie/exaggeration cost's every driver,---I'm not out to change things,-- I can't but I will fight or protest in my corner as best as I can, if I have a say that is. As you write tho, the insurance companies will deal with it all and I have no intention in getting involved except where asked or having to do so. Still thanks to Mirez, Insider and yourself at least I know a little more on how/what makes airbags activate. The repair center phoned me today informing me they have stripped the car and waiting for the go ahead and parts. Can't wait to get the Gal returned, the Yaris is canning my back.
  4. Hi Gregers, I'm not surprised, truly I'm not, I got a sense I knew what he was going do or claim before he did. I understand it I do, I guess I'm just pissed off with the way of the world as you put it in these matters. I've taken it a little personally too, to have someone claim you hurt them physically and you just know/feel it's a lie.
  5. Hi and thanks to everyone who responded. Basically I found myself in situation the other day, I drove down what is usually a two way road but to due to road works temporally one way,-----I found myself against the traffic flo.. To correct my error I reversed, my intention being to get into a side road 50 odd yards behind me, turn the vehicle around and be on my way. As I reversed a driver exiting from a petrol station,---- well we collided,--damage, my rear driver side section of bumper became detached but still in place,--- the other driver, the front drivers side wing, ( old BMW ) was damaged, it will need replacing. I estimate I could have doing no more then 10mph in reverse when collision happened. We got out swapped details, no injuries, I took photos, thank goodness, it really was a minor collision. But I knew it wasn't going to end there,---I was right,------received correspondence today from the other drivers solicitor today stating his client had received severe upper body and neck injuries,---hmmmmm. I have let my insurance company know, fortunately I have bib and brace insurance and they will deal with it all but I have told them I utterly refute the collision could have caused any bodily injury and the other driver was responsible for the incident. My vehicle went into inspection/repair today and I'm driving around in a small courtesy vehicle,---wait for it,---a small Toyota Yaris, all 19 stone of me,---I'm missing my Gal already. The other driver is claiming he may not be able to work again due to his severe injuries, this is the same driver who jumped out of his vehicle, walked around, spoke to others on his mobile , wanted to stand around for another 15 minutes while he to got someone to take photos and jumped back into his car and drove off and not once complained of any pain or injuries. It was a bump but I doubt loose eggs in his passenger seat would have come to any harm. I'm just finishing a letter with all the details to my insurers I was wondering if among many things I could also state my side or rear air bags had not activated or would that be a bit silly. I was reversing but did have right of way in my opinion and as I said I don't think I was doing more then 10mph when the collision happened.
  6. Thank you insider, Do airbags, ( Galaxy ), operate if you reverse into a wall or tree?
  7. 03 Galaxy 2.3 auto. Hi, My Galaxy is fitted with front and side air bags, what collision speed if any should these air bags activate?
  8. Thanks Smudge, The other advantage is I know how to spell Kwikfit now.
  9. Hi John, Thank you, the AC works fine, just not as cool as it used to be and it is beginning to smell a little when first turned on. I will see if I can find an independent otherwise sod it, it's Kwikfit and the full shebang.
  10. MK 2 Galaxy, 03 plate Auto. Hi, How easy is it to drain/ refill the AC on the above vehicle if I did it myself, are there any pictures on this forum that shows you how to do this. I spoke to QuickFit, they said all in
  11. Great Biscuit, I'll give that a go.
  12. O3 MK2 2.3 Gal Hi, My son is not well at the moment and we are looking after his dog, she is a great little thing and likes to ride in the car but there lays the problem. If I have to leave her in the car for ten minutes I lock the car using the remote fob, if she makes a movement the alarm goes off, it does reset its self, until she moves again. I've got to lock the car, how can I immobilize the car alarm only, is this possible?
  13. Hello Riverside, I just had mine done by Fords FOC. If you do it yourself, depending on who you talk to you have between 10 and 15 seconds to replace both batteries otherwise the fob will need reprograming.
  14. I thought I would sign off on this thread. The batteries required are 2 x CR 2016, these are three volt batteries, available most places and will do the job for most Sharan/Galaxys two button remote fobs from 2000 on wards. Depending on who you talk to you have between 10 and 15 seconds to replace both batteries otherwise the fob will need reprogramming. Do not open fob to have a look otherwise you are committed to changing the batteries. My remote is working a hell of a lot better now.
  15. I too had all four tyres replaced with the Wanlis today, clearly the alignment of the wheels were way out because of the wear on three of the tyres, the rear offside was in good nick, so I've kept that as a spare. For
  16. Today has been a bit of a learning curve for me, I feel somewhat stupid and embarrassed by this my thread but if you don't know, you don't know. :) If I have this right, I never knew alloy wheels can't be fitted with new wheel trims, do I feel stupid, also that R14/15 16 denotes the size of trims you would need any way, how stupid is that for me not to know.. The center caps on my existing wheels will have to stay as they are but they are marked badly. I felt a little better when I found a decent set of locking nuts knocked down from
  17. Thank you Nic and Norwich, Can I assume by your replies the key fob does not need to be re-programed and the batteries are available in say Maplins?, two batteries, thank you, do I replace one at a time?
  18. Galaxy 03 2.3 petrol. Key fob question first. My two button remote key fob needs a new battery I think, is it a simple question of of opening fob and replacing battery and having replaced the battery will I need to re-program key fob, how do you open up the key fob? Wheel trims I have just purchased new tyres all round, our area has recently had a spate of tyre stealing, all Audi so far, so I think I'm safe. I'm thinking of fitting locking nuts anyway, at the same time my wheel trims are in pretty dire condition, what trims should I fit to accommodate locking nuts or would any correct size trims to my liking do? Having removed and refitted an existing trim recently, I know it had to go back on in a particular way, a mark on the inside of the wheel trim showed which way it should fit, am I stuck with replacing like for like Ford trims, if not what size aftermarket trims do I need taking into account locking nuts.
  19. All four Wanli tyres have just arrived by mail order, a day early in fact. They look OK, any point of me taking a photo for the forums here?
  20. Hello Paul, Thanks for that.
  21. Galaxy 03 2.3 Petrol Auto. I used the air con for the first time today in a few months, I know I should run it briefly every week, I just forget. It worked fine, however there was an eggy smell for a minute or so and then it disappeared. I've been reading the A/C threads, I have never had a vehicle recharged before. Does this eggy smell means it about time I do something or was it simply a cause because I hadn't used the A/C for a while? The vehicle is now coming up to 5 years old and I guess has never been recharged or serviced. What should I make sure is done as part of the service of the A/C, what should be done without me having to ask? As I say everything seems to be working fine, would a Kwik-Fit job be OK or should I have something a little more comprehensive? What should a decent A/C service cost me in the London area?
  22. Galaxy 03, 2.3 Petrol Hello, Having purchased the lamps and following Chromedomes description I thought I would change the lamps today. Well, from the photos, the two top screws, ( A ) are obvious and the bottom screw to the right of the headlight, ( B ), recessed but easily got at but where, using photo A is the other bottom fixing to the left of the headlight, I know I will need a long driver but can I find where to put the driver, can I heck, I looked with a torch, I can't find it. Can anyone help?
  23. Hi Paul and thanks. What is a reasonable average life for these tyres, mixture of road and motorway, remembering these are W rated and not H so may wear quicker, can you say? Also we have a lot of speed humps around our way, I don't think there is a problem but should I have the tracking inspected /done when replacing tyres, mine is an 03, 2.3 Galaxy.
