Where The Heck Is It? ( Cruise Vacuum Pump )
Airrex7 replied to Airrex7's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Galaxy M2, 03 plate 2.3 Ghia 16v petrol Thanks for the replies. There are 2-3 smallish jobs I have to do on the Galaxy all are pretty much covered here on the site, although I have to say I didn't find any thing that stated that vacuum pump was bolted to the inner NS wing on a MK2, I spent ages crooking my neck looking into space occupied by NS lamp unit. I know the cruise control is/will work, ( I think ), 'cause when I operate it via the switch the cruise indicator comes on, so I guess that's a good sign. I fixed on the advise here on site that it was the tube/hose to the pump that needs trimming and re-fixing, it never occurred to me there is another place it might fail. How do I get/reach T/join if it's up in drivers well,---I mean do I just pull back carpet. If I need to replace parts( not vacuum ),is it a Ford purchase, can I get tubing/T-Join/hose from a motor factor? Apart from replacing the starter motor the other job is the rear washer wiper,---no wash reaching the screen. Apparently it is a common fault, something to do with the washer tubing by the inside NS sill. What I don't understand is there is no damp in the NS front well or under pasenger seat, is there something else I should check first before removing trim? ( washer bottle is full ). -
Where The Heck Is It? ( Cruise Vacuum Pump )

Thanks. Would you know if the procedure for the simple fix of triming the vacuum hose/tube and refixing is the same on the MK2 as for the MK1? -
Galaxy M2, 03 plate 2.3 Ghia 16v petrol Hi, Having searched this site and found out how to undertake what I hope is a simple repair, I went looking a little while ago for the cruise control vacuum pump. I know what it looks like, (I think ), but having removed the passenger side headlight unit, I couldn't find it. I have to get under the car in the next few days to replace a starter motor, once the undershield is removed, will I find the pump,( passenger side ), or am I looking in the wrong place?

Front Wipers Creeping Up The Screen
Airrex7 replied to Darchy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
An update, Not long after my above post I did what Spitfirmac suggested, just drilled a couple of holes with my trusty Dremel, with linkage in situ', in to spindle casing, drenched spindles with spray copper lube, worked instantly, wipers still going good. I would have posted so much earlier with a thank you post but could not get back into the forums,-----belated thanks. -

Wiper Linkage Removal And Regrease.
Airrex7 replied to suzuki91's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Spitfiremac and also to Vimer ( post 39) For those of us not greatly confident around vehicles but would like to be, would like to know more, do more. Any chance of an X marks the spot picture, I appreciate you both have done the job maybe a while ago but just a couple of pictures pointing to the spot where to drill would be so good. Would you know, is this quick fix viable on all models, diesels/petrol/all years? -
Front Wipers Creeping Up The Screen
Airrex7 replied to Darchy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Been reading this thread with interest. I too now seem to have a most recent issue with the front wiper juddering across the screen/ stopping starting. My Galaxy is a Mk2 2.3i on a 2003 plate. I can't click on links at the moment but are there any links/pictures that show how the repair/fix should be done via this site for a Mk2? Do I need to dismantle the wiper mechanism or is there a quick fix I can try first? -

M2 Galaxy Heater Not Working
Airrex7 replied to brett's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thought I would add to this. Discovered I had kind of same problem, no warm air when heater was on. Mine is a Mk2 Galaxy but with the analog heater display, used it yesterday for warm air, fans working ok, controls set correctly but blowing cold air instead of warm. Solution, topped up the expansion vessel, problem sorted. -
Power Steering Reservoir
Airrex7 replied to Airrex7's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for all the replies and advise. Found the power steering reservoir,( by the battery, no cover but there was ???), quick trip to local Halfords has resolved the grinding noise for now. On the MOT advise note it states, " oil leak ", I phoned the MOT station later the same day and asked where they thought the leak might be, they didn't know, just said they found evidence of an oil leak?? When I topped up the reservoir there was so little in it, I am wondering if power steering rack has leak. I have had the Mk 2 Gal' since 2006, she is low milage, just under 55,000 miles and apart from rear pads, blades, new tyres all round and a minor accident over the years she has been great and flown through her MOTs with out costing any thing but the fee. She had a major service about 18 months ago but she has done little in milage since that time. About two year ago or so I changed all the tyres and had the front tracking done which was way out. Just before this years MOT I noticed the inside of both front tyres were realy worn while the rest of the tread was OK. I thought Gal' ain't going to pass an MOT like that, so had a never used Event tyre in the garage, ordered another from, "Camskill", took vehicle and tyres to shop, fitted and tracked, -
Power Steering Reservoir

Thank you Where is the power steering fluid reservoir on the Mk 2 Galaxy? -
2003 Mk 2 Galaxy 2.3 Auto Just had the Galaxy Mot, needed new front disc's and pads to pass. Is there a power steering reservoir on the Mk 2, is so where is it in the engine compartment, can I top it up myself and what spec' oil do I require? Steering begining to make a grinding noise when I turn steering wheel, ( not just on full lock ), tyres are correct pressure. Also, MOT station advised/ written OS & NS Macpherson struts have. slight movement at upper attachment and will need replacing at some time but not to worry yet. What does replacement entail, they told me they would charge me

3 Problems, Need Some Advise.
Airrex7 replied to Airrex7's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
MK2 Galaxy, 2.3 petrol, 2003 plate. Need to confirm then that the servo pump for the cruise control is behind front passenger side/near side lamp unit, can some one confirm this? Before I tackle the rear washer foot well issue, how do I get to the washer pipe tail gate end to check it is still connected, do I have to remove the tail gate door card? -

Galaxy MK11, 2.3 petrol, 2003 plate. 1) Read the common question and replies page, got some useful advise still not overly confident. The cruise control on my Galaxy has stopped working,it has worked but I don't use it often. If I set the stalk switch to on the little cruise indicator dial shows next to speedo dial but I can't set the cruise control, it doesn't work. According to the advise it may be down to a perished hose. To get to this hose I have to remove the NS indicator unit by the removal of 2 screws/bolts using a long driver, is this a screw driver or extension bar. How do I get to these screws/bolts, do I need to remove the NS wheel or can replacing hose be done simply with the bonet open and if it is the hose, what size and where would I get it from? If the indicator cruise light is working, does that mean it is a perished hose or could there be another reason? 2) Battery is going flat. This has only started happening in the last few weeks, In the morning car won't turn over, use my instant start, starts first time. There are no warning lights showing to suggest a charging problem, I have checked to make sure no lights or any thing else is being left on last thing and yet the battery appears to be discharging/is going flat. If I take it for a run, no problem for a few days, car starts every time but then battery goes flat. It is a relitively new battery, ( 2 1/2 years old but a cheap one ) and that might be the problem, battery maybe screwed but sugestions as to how I might narrow down/investigate further problems? 3) Infamous rear wash wipe. There is a lot of advise on this but still not sure how to go about it. Rear wiper works fine, I can hear pump when I opporate stalk but no water jet, I gather it could be washer hose linkage front pasenger foot well but there is no sign of carpet being damp. To check this hose do I need to remove front pasenger seat or simply remove/fold back the carpet in the foot well, do I need to remove any thing else and could there be another problem causing no water jet.

Not Sure I Had A Problem 'till Today.
Airrex7 replied to Airrex7's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks to everyone who replied. Reasonably sure it's not the relay, car is starting just fine, susspect it might be selector inhibitor switch. Any pictures on this site as to how to get to the above switch? Also any pictures as to how to lift pansenger door carpet trim and how to strengthen any washer pipes? -
Galaxy Mk2 on an 03 plate, 2.3 petrol, Automatic. The other day started the car, turned ignition and for the briefest moment, nothing, then the car started. It was very brief delay, I thought I might have imagined it. Today in the supermarket car park, the same thing but this time, definitely nothing, no engine start. I thought for a moment the shift lever was not in park but it was, I removed the ignition key, made sure shift lever was firmly in park, turned ignition and no problems, car started. Could it be battery in remote fob needs replacing or is there something else going on? Next, rear window washer jet has stopped working, I can here the motor, no fluid reaching rear jet, how do I resolve and get to that problem?

Hi, just a quick update, the repair centre have contacted me about my Galaxy they are replacing the whole rear bumper, driver side rear wing light cluster, replacing the reversing sensors and spraying the tail gate and bumper. While my insurance is picking up the tab for this, they have told be
