  4. mine is the 110 bhp version where would you start on diagnosing problem without a major strip down and re build???? i've worked on cars since my teens sripping and re building cortinas and an early modeo but never a completely stripped a transverse engine also to get me by i've got a 55 plate mondeo 105000 on clock so would it be needing a belt change at 120000?

  9. Hello my Galaxy fans need a bit of advice really It all started four years ago when i bought and fell in love with my Gal not long after i met you lot and a wonderful relationship blossomed :16: problem is last thursday my Gal started making funny noises, you know the type...like when you clean your spanners in the wifes washing machine, anyway limped to nearby engineers i've used in past and he suspects the crank... BIG EXPENSIVE JOB only i'm not so sure you see not long ago i was told (by different garage) that i didn't have a blocked injector as i thought but a stuck valve...so could this injector now be the cause of my problems.... AND NOW THE BIG QUESTION :31: :31: would i be wise to spend yet more money replacing broken bits whether it be crank or valve or do i retire my Gal and strip her down and sell th bits that are saleable? :16: i might add in last 12 months she's had new clutch/flywheel/master and slave cylinders new turbo(prob only done 10 thou) battery, alty, main belt svs 35000 ago and thats without usual stuff like brakes tyres etc as usual your input would be most valuble :D
  10. Hi all i recently replaced a master on a mk 1 if you remove crash padding from under steering wheel mine was 4 screws and a couple of pressclips (like on door cards) you then have enough room to access underneath... the pedal itself on mine was held in place with a clip once removed pedal slide off (bugger on mk 1 to get on different spring to mk 2) i had no problems with brake pedal coming off while doing this best of luck all :16: :31: :16:
  11. TO ALL PRE 2001 OWNERS I DID IT MY WAY AND HERE'S HOW:- I COMPRESSED SPRING IN VICE THEN USED PICTURE HANGING WIRE TO HOLD IT (THIS IS PART WHERE I WISHED I'D TOOK PICS ) OFFERED SPRING TO PEDAL WHEN IN PLACE CUT WIRE THAT IS HOW I FINALLY DID IT GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE WHO HAS TO DO THIS AS EVEN FRAUDS HATE THE JOB.... :) :) :) :) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
  12. might sound daft but have you bled system i've just done my master and has took ages to get ALL the air out also don't forget to reset cruise control switch under pedal (press pedal pull switch all way out release pedal and that sets it) best of luck :-)
  13. frauds not much help said he doesn't like doin em cos you have to lever/force spring into place 3hrs at it now on and off resigned to get someone to do it as i haven't the upper body strength to do it and my trapped nerve won't allow me to go on any longer :-(

  17. Need help here guys (and gals) clutch master went on thur nite ordered new one fri printed off remove/install instructions off TIS and here lies the problem on disc instructions is a circular return spring that just clips back on where as mine has what can only be described as a pogo stick type spring with a half moon at one end and a ball at the other which fits into the pedal . i've just spent 1 1/2 hours TRYING to refit it and can't has anyone done one of these and how is it done PPLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAASSEE!!! ^_^ :31:
  18. i had similar prob on my mk 1 so if its any help the engine no on ford are the last 7(seven) characters of the chassis number hope this helps ;)
  19. hi j dont know if its like mine but if you get under engine (drivers side) mine's behind pas pump bit fiddley but possible good luck
  20. hi mine went in feb same prices you've been quoted but after doing mine did find this on e bay if any help http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...2BUCI%26otn%3D4 I did msg him to see if this did my AFN engined turbo and he replied yes hope this may bring your costs down good luck :)
  21. hi sparky can't copy pic from tis disc but part you are on about is (according to tis) ENGINE ROLL RESTRICTOR no mention of what bush is called so assume engine roll restictor bush or if we no frauds prob comes as whole unit only.... hope tis helps :D also hope not part of MOT cos think mine on way out so would appreciate a price when you get it (i'm too scared to ring frauds for price :( :( ) best of luck
  22. hi Daz mine is exactly same :o me thinks is starter, cos when hot contacts have expanded haven't had time to put theory to test yet as i say only an assumption so let me no if you fix your prob good luck :D
  23. ;) :P ;) HEEEELLLP :P :18: :18: checked few things this morning ie fan blades and surprisingly they work as should on clutch but have noticed two things 1 noise sounds like (bag of spanners) eg. pully clutch seized 2 no battery light on tick over (me thinks cos no load on alty) but rev or drive and light stays on for two seconds then off for three then on for 2 and so on till you stop and engine on tick over again then no light till you drive again then its back to the above sequence does this pattern point to a particular problem in the alternator??? :P
  24. i had similar problem last year selector jammed in 5th turned out to be a bolt on selector had sheared, so a nice man in garage made a makeshift longer one and its still ok unfortunately being stuck in 5th burnt clutch out but in answer to question gearbox was in situ but had to move bits like expansion chamber etc... best of luck :P
