  1. Waauw, that's very low. Is that reading from the computer or the result from your own calculation. But anyhow, you must be driving very efficiently !
  2. Thanks for your reaction. What is your consumption? How many miles with one tankfill?
  3. Are there any owners or drivers of the MKIII model with the 125 hp Diesel engine on this forum? I would like to know if this car also has trouble with starting weakness, and if there are software updates from Ford foreseen. Many thanks already for your help. Also other experiences with this car and engine are very welcome.
  4. For me, carrying bikes on the roof is no option anymore since I seriously damaged my Sharan some years ago. Putting on bikes and taking them off is quite difficult on these high cars. I also tried a tailgate carrier with 3 bikes on it, but I never felt confident about it. Although it was a Thule, I never had the impression that the thing was well fixed and really designed to carry 3 bikes. The best option is still to mount it on the towing hook, or to use a small trailer. I even saw such a thing at Decathlon that could carry 6 bikes! what I do like on the roof is a Skibox or rooftopbox.
  5. I would not worry too much if it did not let you down lately. Indeed keep a continuous eye on your temperature especially when you are in a traffic jam. Then it might help to turn up the heating and open all windows to keep the engine cool. Do not overload it, and do not exceed speed limits (quite expensive in France if they catch you). If you check tyre pressure regularly also your tyres should keep up for the trip. Some extra cooling liquid and oil should be part of you travel kit. I once did this trip from Belgium to the south of France with a 10 year old Passat 1.6 D that had 220.000 km. Maximumspeed of the car was 145km/h and I just drove 1000 km in 8h nearly all the time full throttle. The car did it very well. During the holiday we cruised down the smaller roads and did 1300 km with only 60 litres of Diesel. Suppose the engine was 'cleaned' well. Have a very nice holiday !
  6. Hello, After a long search, I discovered this great forum. I have been active on SGAF.DE and Motortalk, but this is only German. The Galaxy Trend (second equipment level, below the Ghia) I will get in September will have the 1.8 TDCI with 125 hp. As this engine is not available in Germany, it is very hard to find experiences (and problems) with this engine. I am from Belgium and found out that this engine is also sold in UK, and that is why I like your forum so much. Beside the fact that it is easier for me to write in English then in German. And if you try posting in English on a German forum, it looks like the third world war starts again. That is why I would like to read some experiences from people who also drive the S-Max or Galaxy with this engine. What is your fuel consumption, how does this engine support this large van? Do you have trouble? I will also get the Travelpilot EX navigation system. How do you rate that? Hope to hear soon something here. Best Regards, tommie
