Anyone else get this one or have I got a genuine admirer? :D I had exactly the same.

I never had to use the ultraseal, but it did use the compressor. If you leave the plug (where the ultraseal bottle is supposed to come), you can use the compressor to inflate your tires. It really works well and is even relatively fast. I would not mind driving with a repaired tyre, provided it is done well, and not just by inserting one of these 'sausages'. If a tyre needs to be repaired, it has always to be dismounted and checked on the inside. Then it should be glued with a mushroom type seal.

I have my MKIII Galaxy Trend (Zetec) with 1.8 TDCI now since about 3 months. As we had a few cold days, I remarked that the heating is really poor. Despite the fact that there is a PTC heater in the Airco system, it really takes a lot of time before the interior starts to become a bit comfortable. As such I am missing also seat heating. Would anyone know if a software update of the Airco could help out? The engine also stops sometimes right after starting, despite me waiting for the glow lamps to extinguish. The effect is that the engine starts for about 1 second and then stops. I had it on cold days, but also when it was a bit warmer. If I wait then 10-20 seconds before restarting, it starts without problems. Anyone knows what could be wrong? Thanks for help!

You will only notice difference above 3000 revs. Both the 2.0 and 1.8 have the same maximum torque, but it comes earlier on the 1.8 (and it goes down earlier too). You will only notice an important difference accelerating above 90 mph. I have the 1.8 and I am quite happy with the performance !

I am also following some German forums on the Galaxy & S-Max. But they do not have any 1.8 TDCI engines over there. Does anyone here know if there are any updates for this engine? My car was built end of September, and till now I only have one small problem. When it is cold (but not freezing..), the engine starts, and even before engaging any gear, it stops again. Once, I even had to start the engine 4 times. Could this be solved with a software update? Is it a bug, or a feature ?

It seems that there is already an electric heater for the block that is working on 12V when the engine is running. Would it not be possible to power that with an 'outside' electric source, or a second battery. Even if the engine wins only 10-20

Any idea about the price? Someone experience with it here?

Lately we hade the first cold days here in Belgium, and I discovered that it takes a lot of time before the interior gets hot. I was thinking about an electric engine heater that I could plug into the 220V mains. If I could switch it on some time before leaving off to work, I think it could make a nice difference. Are there good alternatives, and where can I find such an engine heater.

The hilly landscape can have very little influence when the hills are not too steep. If you can 'idle' them down, without braking influence should be limited. Of course, you do not climb them in 2nd gear at 4000 revs. When the hill becomes a mountain, and during several miles, you need to reduce speed by hitting the brakes, or going down in gear, then of course there is energy wasted and mpg will go down. I experienced with one of my previous cars that on a slightly accidented landscape, the mpg went up. Either I used the engine at about maximum torque, but not high rev's, either I was idling (but leaving the gear in!). This brings the engine in situations where it often runs at high efficiency. Generally, the slowest speed in the highest gear will bring the highest mpg.

Hey, I got this problem at that time with a Sharan 130 HP TDI. It happened when the car was about 1y old, and before there was a recall. When the flywheel broke, I was speeding a bit on the German motorway, until I had to slow down for a traffic jam. During braking, I felt some vibrations, and stopped the car. A guy behind me stopped also, and warned me that there ware a lot of sparks coming out under the car. At that moment I saw some smoke coming out under the hood of the car. I decided to stop the engine and call for help after opening the hood being prepared with a fire extinguisher. A bit later, my car was loaded on a truck, and delivered to a VW garage. They took a brief look and told me that they could not do this in one day. A Taxi was called to bring me to an AVIS car rental. One week later, I got a call that my car was ready and that VW would take care to bring it to my home. They explained me that they had to change the gearbox, clutch and flywheel. To do this, they must dismount the front axle and engine... But to me everything was done at zero cost, and a few months later I discovered that VW recalled a lot of cars for this problem.

I have had the Galaxy MkI 90 Hp TDI, the Sharan mkII 130 Hp TDI , and a C8 110 Hp HDI. And I will get the Galaxy MkIII 125 HP in about one month. The Galaxy MkI was not bad, but noisy and a bit slow. For 6 people plenty of space. The Sharan was so far the best one. Splendid engine, very economic, but also quite noisy which makes using a phone or just talking difficult above 60 mph. The C8, I am not going to comment. It is the worst car I have ever had. Engine is a disaster and it even feels slower than the 90 hp Galaxy I had before... Never again, the service of Citroen is a complete disaster. Last year my car was in the workshop for more than 2 months in total. I knew the number of the workshop by hart. Only plus: low noise (but what do you want, the engine is not giving any power) Why did I now choose the Galaxy and not a Sharan? First of all, I was a bit bored and did not like to get the same model again (after all there was only a small facelift). s The Sharan is simply too noisy and behaves not good on wet roads. Wheels are spinning too easily, and wet curves are an adventure even with the ESP when you are a bit in a hurry. Last: the NCAP rating is rather poor... I also really like the FFS. Taking seats out is a hard job and the seats are heavy. In 3-4 years I might reconsider a Sharan, but only when they bring out a new model which is less noisy.

Could it be that you put your aircon very cold? Try putting it in automatic mode at 21 or 22

:( I would like to know if all the Galaxy's will get the electric air heating system. This should make it much more quick to heat the interior in winter, not waiting till the engine is hot. In Germany it seems that all diesels have this, but is it also the case for the 1.8 125 HP which is not imported in Germany? Anybody has some experience with his 1.8 in wintertime?

I am quite curious to see the torque and power curves of the 125 HP Diesel Engine that is coming in the S-Max and Galaxy. Especially a comparison with the 2.0 TDCI would be very interesting. Did anyone ever put his car on a roller tester and could he/she post the results? Or can these curves be found on the web? Best Regards,

TSSSS... Always coming back to your MK II... I really think you must have been hit or nearly run over by an MK III. Regarding the roof bars, I know I can have them at 130-160

I have driven a Galaxy TDI 90 HP from 99-2002, and then a Sharan TDI 130 HP from 2003 till 2006. Surely the Sharan is the same as the Alhambra. I liked those cars at that moment, but to me they are not comparable to the new Galaxy. The new Galaxy is a lot less noisy, and the road behaviour is so much better. The seat concept is different. PErsonally I never liked the fact that when I needed some space, that I had to take out the seats, and store them in a garage or worse somewhere in house. For me, the Sharan and Alhambra are really dated cars. I would never buy them unless you get a very good discount. Of course you have some MKIII haters in this forum, ... who do not like the outside design. Well... I do like the new design, and I will be very pleased when I get my Galaxy. PS: never ever be tempted to buy a Citroen C8 instead. I have it now, and believe me, I never drove a car that is worse, and I was never served worse in any workshop.

Hello, I still have some time, but I would like to know where and at what price you found some good roof bars for the MKIII. My car was ordered without them due to the leasing, but I will purchase some at my own expenses. Thanks for your hints.

A Ghost Operating My Brakes
Tommie1 replied to Simply_Graham's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The traction control could apply the brakes. Are you sure you did not touch the sensors for the ABS - ESP -Traction control? To be OK, they should be as close as possible to the toothed wheels. -
I have been in the factory mid of last year, but we were not allowed to go on the parking. Inside the factory, the ligth is artificial, so these metallic colours are hard to estimate. the reason that we were not allowed to take a walk on the parking is that any car leaving the factory is immediatly invoiced to the "customer" or dealer. These cars are no longer property of the factory. How the factory runs is really impressive. All models run on the same line, and really mixed. Many important parts are supplied to the line just in time and just in sequence. The number of variants is really unendless this way. At that time, I did not know yet that I was going to order a Galaxy MkIII, so I did not pay too much attention to the colours. It is ordered in Tonic, but I still have the possibility to change it.

I am searching already longer time to find a picture of the Galaxy MkIII in the Tonic colour. Does anybody have a clue where to find it? Or does any have the car in that colour? Thanks,

Yes, The left one is more beautiful than the right one... :D :P

When I recap this, most of the comments come to the fact that you tell the Galaxy is crap because of the design... Well, I like the design (but for me this is not critical, and I also think the S-Max looks a bit better on the outside). I like the splendid engines and especially the low noise level. Due to 4 kids, I need a larger car (S-max is a bit small if you use 6 seats), and I really believe this is the best you can find at the moment.

Let me tell you a bit more about some of my previous cars: 1. Renault Sc

Hey, Mine will be the Trend (should be very comparable to Zetec in UK). Did you ever get a software update of the engine? This seems to be a hot topic on the 2.0 TDCI engines. Would you know how to see the software version? And it keeps on being strange that there are so few MKIII owners here. Is this model not popular in UK? Best Regards,
