OK, this is for the benefit of others, (well, those who don't know how to remove door cards )

In this edition, i will show you how to remove the door cards, on the MKII Ford Galaxy, and here is the best bit - WITH PICTURES!. all you need to remember, everything clips into something else!

OK, step 1.

On the door handle (the bit you use to pull the door shut), where the grip part is, that pulls off.

Step two,

with that removed, you can then pull the whole handle up, out of the door ((remember, its clipped in, may require force (don't forget, there are short wires connected to the handle))

Step three,

remove the wing mirror control, just prizes out, (as it is also clipped in)

You should also be unplugging these items as you go along.

Step four,

There are three screws, holding the door panel on (note, that on the passenger door, there is only two screws)

Remove them, and put in a safe place,

Step five,

Now comes the time, to prize the door off - very carefuly.

I used a large screwdriver, placing it as close to the 'points' as possible, and then leavering it off (i think there is a special tool for this, but a flat head screw driver will do)

step six,

With all the clips undone, you need to lift the card UP, off the window, then rest the card on something, i used my toolbox.

And thats it really, if you need to totaly remove the card, just unplug the cable and light.

Now the reason i took my cards off, was becasue of this...

This only applies to the Mk II - If you leave the grilles on a Mk I you will knock the original (plastic) grille off (though you may not know this until you get to the passenger side as the driver's door appears to have a bit more clearance!)

Also, leaving the grilles on for the rear door speakers is impossible as the grille gets in the way of the door card clip hole as can be seen in the image below <_<

MATT,

The pictures came in very handy this week-end as i had an irritating rattle from behind the door card. This was taken off by the body shop when they fixed the dent in the door after a guy scraped the complete side of the car when my wife was parked and the punk drove off without stopping! Bad luck for him she recognised who it was, had a witnes and after a phone call he came back, still denying it was him, anyway, all settled on (his!) insurance.

The support beam at the bottom inside of the door card was broken off when the 'experts' removed it and that was rattling. Managed to glue it back on with super glue and put it all back together for 1 of the three screws to fall into the door card....

Anyway, did it all over again and rattle has gone. Door cards seem to be made of cake though....

I think the work that people like you and many others others put into this forum is brilliant. The thread and piccy's have been archived onto my PC for future reference, just in case they go missing from the thread - as they sometimes do!

I won't contact you to send any of the bits, times are hard <_< but I can stretch to a couple of quid.

Cheers.

Oggy.

acant remember how i stumbled onto this thread but is very useful...can i use this method on the rear passenger doors???....can i access the window wires from here???
Posted

the method is the same for all doors - to get at the wires, u may have to remove that "grey stuff", nothing that a Stanley knife cant handle.

DONT CUT THE VAPOUR BARRIER not unless you fancy letting water/moisture in through the door cards ;)

peel it back so it can be stuck back in place with out the use of sticky tape ;)

I am very interested in how to do this as somebody decided to kick my passenger door mirror off whilst the car was sitting outside the house. Need to remove the door panel to connect the wiring.

I am having a problem in viewing the images though - something about not having permissions.

Can anybody help me?
