NedKelly Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 Thanks to Dipsomaniac for the Speaker Grills and instructions. Follow this link for Pics http://img198.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=bust...kergrill5gy.jpg (The pics run from botton right to top left, click on each pic for details) Not ideal but saves taking the door card off and a lot of time. elize Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 thankyou thankyou thankyou. Have just fitted speaker grills following your instructions and pics. These grills have been laying around the house for weeks and we were beginning to think we would have to brave taking door cards off. We soaked them in very hot water before bending the lugs to make them more pliable. Don't know if this made difference but they bent quite easily and non broke. Hardest part was removing old grills. Beware as these are incredibly sharp when they snap and I did cut myself. (lovely peace now husband has stopped ranting about stupid grills). Quote
viking Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 It all looks good but won't you then be irritatated by buzzing/rattling noises fromthe speaker grills not being tightly secured. I have one speaker grill that does just thatand its the original one. Quote
bingo nightly Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Just done 3 of mine as per those very handy pics. 15 minutes for all 3. Very easy. Thanks for going to the touble of putting the info up. Quote
big boy stevie Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 done my speaker grills 7 months ago same method and mine are still on after the kids kicking the s**t out of them, mine dont vibrate at all taking the door panel off is a pain had to do that a while ago to repair wires in gaiter after leccy windows packed up Quote
John D Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Just fitted three yesterday (odd isn't it that the driver door grille which gets most exposure does not get damaged....?) and a real easy job. I used a small spot of araldite on each of the lugs to secure the grills - no movement in them at all. Interestingly I noticed how much more brittle the old ones were compared to the new ones. Presumably the plastic degrades a little with time/light causing it to become brittle and then more likely to crack/break. Anyhow, BIG HSE note: MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GOGGLES WHEN REMOVING THE OLD GRILLES - when snapping of the old bits with pointy nose pliers lots of little pieces going pinging through the air. And although I did use pliers I still managed to draw blood as the broken pieces are very jagged. Quote
burundi Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Link to the pictures doesn't seem to work anymore, anyone got them stashed somewhere? Quote
