Gteuk Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 New members that are validated will not immediatly become a fully fledged member, you will have some restrictions which are as follows. - No posting in the classifieds section - You can reply to topics but you cannot create topics- No use of Poll, PM or Email Facilities- No upload facility- Cannot edit own posts You will automatically be promoted to a fully fledged member when you have posted over 5 replies to topics, please be aware for 1 nonesense reply will result in 2 posts removed from your count. What is classed as a nonsense reply - that happened to me- I agree- that was funny - etc, etc- any reply that is a blatent attempt at getting your post count up I have a problem now Most people find this forum because they have a problem or need information, the chances are the question you are seeking answers for has already been asked and answered, use the search feature to find it. We are a nice bunch of boys and girls but as the site grows we have to be careful as to who gets full access, feel free to join in the topics started and soon you will be able to start your own, Quote

Guest bigal Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Just a thought, how do new members introduce themselves if they cant post new topics for a while? Quote
Andrew T Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 A good point. Perhaps M4 can open a thread for this purpose and pin it? Although looking at Dannyboy's cd changer thread it would seem that new members can still start topics. Quote

NikpV Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 er do they Well I'm sure we could arrange a special for you - if you're worried that is  New members that are validated will not immediatly become a fully fledged member, you will have some restrictions which are as follows. ah so its not a Fully Flogged member then ..... that explains it  Quote
ashypd51 Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 i thought the ethos of the forum was about hospitality, support and inclusion, and not about restrictions, exclusions and eliteism. what we must remember is that we were all new members at some stage  Quote
Gteuk Posted December 27, 2006 Author Report Posted December 27, 2006 The hospitality is here and there is no elitism here, what I am doing is simply making life slightly easier for the adminsm, as the site is getting bigger day by day we are attacked by a lot of spambots from all over the world, there are about 40 email domains banned from the site but new ones pop up on a daily basis. This ensures that even if a spambot gets through they cannot post, it also ensures that anybody who register with a problem has to use the search facility. For immediate help they can start a topic in the trainee area, it also makes registering aliases a bit pointless. I deleted 954 members from the database which were known forum spammers or nonsense posters, that is a long days work where I could have been doing other things. The hospitality side of it is, its free to enter, you can search a mountain of information, you don't have to register to read, you can reply to other threads when registered. Its like a points system once you get upto 30 posts you are upgraded. Quote
