  1. Hi people got a mk1 2.3 and seem to be getting through a few master cylinders! Got through 4 in the last 2yrs and no 4 just gone on Me, peddle straight to floor, tried bleeding even using pressure blender can't get any fluid past master cylinder even with bleed nipple removed! Any ideas or is there a bad batch of master cylinders out there? Looks like I'm fitting no 5 on Saturday
  2. Hi Brian I have a prints lpg system fitter are you talking about that vaporizer? I fitted a new diaphragm recently and 2 new yellow dot injectors n filters and rpm module, the car goes well in both petrol n lpg its just tickover thats the problem.It does suffer from white foggy exhaust at times and stinks like he'll but I put a new maff On! One problem I do have is the engine wiring loom insulation falling to bits so been re-wiring everything I touch back up to good cable so may have a problem there which means opening up the lot for inspection lol. Any idea's what the map sensor does as I'm waiting for that one to replace. Cheers

Hi Brian Cheers for that number now located one on the internet, my Speedo works fine but the 3 wires connecting to speed sensor via 3 pin plug was a mess, insulation shot and all potentially touching, anyway sorted that n re-wired my thought was maybe the shorting may have damaged sensor? Especially if a signal is being sent to ecu. Can't seem to locate air intake sensor either, if I un plug mine nothing happens to engine tickover speed. Also if revs stick at 3000rpm when on gas if i switch over to petrol revs drop down to normal tickover. Also changed lambda sensor, I'm in Gosport so may have to bite the bullet and put her into a garage in Southampton that also do gas conversions to get the lot checked out.

Would anyone know the part number for the speed sensor fitted in the gearbox of a mk1 2.3 manual box and would it send a signal to the ecu as im having problem bringing my tick over down when stopping. So far I've changed the following, cam sensor, crank sensor, throttle sensor, maff sensor,water temp sensor,throttle valve, throttle cable and her valve. Just ordered the 3 vacuum valves and map sensor. It's been on 3 OBDII testers but nothing found, she's also on lpg and rpm sits at 3000rpm when you stop in both modes, if you slow engine speed with clutch (brake on) to 1000rpm n let her go she shoots up then settles down at 1000rpm, but sometimes stalls. Don't want to have her put down yet but getting close! Any ideas guys? Viperclive
  5. Had the same problem on mine when braking hard coming off motorway it turned out to be inner track rod ends (we call em lollipops up north) not overly expensive but suggest you do both sides. Good luck Viperclive
  6. Cheers for that I thought I was going mad as every one I checked was shorted out! It means I've left a trail of steering wheels in bits on all mk1 galls in Hampshire scrapyards ha ha.
  7. Sorry for late reply had a few problems ie heart attack ha ha now got stents so back up to speed now. Which end has the short link in air bag or other end? I thought I was going nuts I've tested at least 10 by just taking bag off and disconnecting other end.If what you say works then they were all OK lol. Have to clear fault n fit my spare one.
  8. Cheers Brian. I bought a second hand one used my tester and on both ends I had continuity but in my mind it should have been an open cct and I should only have continuity from each end one wire only. Guess I bought a duff one!

  11. Hi, I have a Speedo that's intermittent first thing in the morning, especially when it's damp/raining, after a few miles up she oops! Anyone know where the sensor is situated on the 2.3 gearbox and part no.
  12. Don't know if your's is the same as my gal, but under the front passenger seat in the cubby hole I have a black box! Mine flooded shorted out and all windows opened in the pouring rain! Good laugh now but not then, took it apart, dried it out popped back in All worked, box now sits on stilts!
  13. If battery connected, cold engine and alternator warm/hot diode failure as battery is trying to power alternator? A possibility from a problem I heard about years ago, other than that wiring between doors n door posts not forgetting rear door right hand side top, a big problem with the girls, plenty on here how to repair broken cables.
  14. I retract my last under magnification it appears to be the cable wrapping as previously stated.
