  1. It's a big ''thanks'' from me zorgman for your help (in someone else's post) regarding ''knocking metallic noise from front of car"...garage initially couldn't source it...you suggested ant-roll bar at wheel...you were quite correct! Garage now replaced it and infernal knocking and my sanity are cured! THANKS
  2. http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/tdi.html My 2003 2.3ltr Zetec is in to garage tomorrow to cure same ''knocking''. He said it was a ''pin'' but i imagine it's these AntiRollBar links that you refer to. Annoying metallic clunking....hope it's sorted as it's driving me mad! Hope he gets it at ebay price! Yup sound like the shock is going to fall off or a wheel about to drop off.. That was the sound, yes! Turns out that it WAS the anti-roll bar behind the driver's side wheel. Garage was very good and net amount charged was
  3. Actually...i have the same problem...AND my rear wash-wipe does not work (no water). I'm going to have a look at this tomorrow...perhaps the two problems are linked!?! thanks! :) Excellent sotal....many thanks! Found the rear washer pipe under grey plastic trim right at passenger door edge...it WAS disconnected! Re-connected, with cable ties to hopefully 'hold' it. Newspapers under sound-deadening to soak up old moisture from the leak....hopefully no more steaming up! Thanks again! :)
  4. Hi. A friend has a Focus Zetec (2005) with the standard CD (6000 model). Recently and without warning the CD stopped making 'sound'...it plays as normal, as if reading each track etc but no music from speakers. Tried everything....radio works fine....tried cleaner CD, panel off & on, different CDs etc....NOTHING! Any help please would be appreciated, thanks! :)

  6. Two winter and two summer tyres are a dangerous combination I would think. Highest grip tyres (i.e winter) should always go on the back axle Thanks guys. Thought there was something i'd heard. A friend's wife, incidentally, is getting 2 (yes, only 2) winter tyres fitted at the suggestion of her Mercedes Main dealer...they're on order...think i'll get him to check her policy and contact her insurance first now!
  7. Sorry...i'm no mechanic but i was told i'd need REINFORCED (or Extra Load) tyres or perhaps this excess wearing would happen to any non-reinforced tyres i chose to fit  ? Perhaps it's as simple as that with wrong tyre pressures exacerbating the problem? I've had the Dunlop 2020 Sport Reinforced so far but they've stopped making them....saw on Blackcircles that they have a GT Champiro Reinforced 215/55/R16 97H at only
  8. Yip...i can vouch for that! I've just spent ages (last week) replacing the passenger side-light bulb on my MK2 2003 2.3 Zetec....opening the flap was the easy part. Locating the 1" rectangular side-light twist housing was easy too...twisting it to remove it was a bug**r. I actually found that inserting the narrower end of the tool-kit supplied spanner ;) (from rear driver's side wheel cubbie hole) into the gap in the light-holder and twisting was easy...then reassembly was okay too, same method. Still have the wrist bruises from my previous bothched attempts though!
  9. I've had the engine management light come on TWICE in the three years i've owned my 2003 / 2.3 ltr Gal Zetec...each time it's been down to the failure of the front side light. Replacing these bulbs is a bug**r as you have to access through the small wheel-arch sliding flap...then locate, twist and pull out holder (eventually)...i still have the wrist bruises from replacing the second one as recently as last week! So, YES, it can be down to a simple bulb! (p.s. i then had to hold the wee black 'milegae zeroing' dashboard switch in as i turned on the engine after bulb replacement (i believe this resets the dashboard light after the fault, bulb, has been rectified)

  11. I'd love to buy at least 2 ''winter tyres'' on plain old steel rims....anyone know of a supplier of two tyres WITH wheels please? i suppose e-bay is best bet for ''used'' ones but few want to deliver ('collect' only) and I'm up in Edinburgh! At
  12. Use reinforced tyres of correct speed rating and keep your family safe - or if all goes wrong at least you will keep your insurer's vehicle inspector from finding a get out clause. Regards DaveJH I agree....Dunlop RF and they're also 'runflat'. Had a blowout on the Dunlops (
