hope someone can help

my galaxy N REG 2L DOHC PETROL is using excessive fuel

it seams to use 20-25 mpg

there is also a black over burnt fuel

patch on the ground from the exhaust at

times if the car is left stationary

has anyone got any ideas...

(1) also I have unplugged the air flow

sensor on top of the air filter

on the left hand side of the engine and

this seams to have made a bit of difference

to the running of the car

(what does this sensor do)

(2) I do have some eratic

problems with loss of power

when you put your foot down

is there any air tubes that go from

the engine to the air filter that could

be blocked

I did clean out a tube that goes into the bottom of the air filter

box the over days and that did have

some black deposits in there and

I am wondering if this is blocked

further up whether this would make a difference

to the running of the car

I have had loads of sensors changed in the car and the

car is displaying no code faults at all

thank you so much for your time and any help would

be most appreciated

kind rgeards to you all ...mark

I checked the connection (the plug end) of the Lamda sensor. The comment I read elsewhere said they found corrosion on the pins etc. I've not had time to pull the plug apart but I did find that the two ends had come apart slightly. It's a bit difficult to get to so all I had time to do was to push firmly together and spray WD.

I'm a bit reluctant to say that it's sorted the problem (after 5 years and
