hi all,hope some-one can help.... have had my galaxy for 5 months it is an r reg 2.8 cdv6 auto went out in it yesterday and noticed when pulling away the revs were going sky high but no great speed when i first got it i was able to screech away....i know this shouldnt be done in an auto but i had just changed from a manual car and wanted to use it with the same acceleration pull. two straight forward questions a does an auto have a clutch if so could it be the clutch slipping b if its not that could it be the bands in the gearbox selector and a cheeky third question can anyone tell me what either will cost to repair thanks in advance Darren

i've got the r reg model and have noticed a similar issue a week ago at 30mph it was running at just over 2000rpm but i was giving it some.at 80mph i reach a maximum of about 3200rpm but it should be more like 2000-2500rpm at a constant 80mph i had it to 110mph and didn't exceed 3400rpm during acceleration

i have just had mine done i have the 1998 cdv6 and the part cost me

i had a cav before the gal and i found a small split in the air flow pipe (consatina style)it was making the car rev like mad its gotta be worth checking them first as the idle control valves can cost a lot to replace check for splits all throught as the previous thread said between air filter and engine.....

As i first thought it was the brake servo fords prices are staggering my advice is to get a couple of quotes before committing i saved over

mines got the same problem it started with the air escaping under pressure making a whistling noise then the seal right at the back against the bulkhead went it now sounds like the air con is on almost like a lorry when it puts on the handbrake loud hissing noise... dont want to scare you but it dont come cheap new just been quoted 310 + vat at ford for the part thats without even fitting it i am struggling to decide what to do as i dont have the mechanical skills to change it myself.....

ford spares found this company they are on yell.com as fms spares in rainham just saved a packet buying the roof console clock for my gal here

according to the owners manual there are sensors either above the rear doors or just behind above the rear windows i will check later... i get the distict feeling that i have just bought a car with some major technical issues i cant beleive so many things go wrong with these cars......

not sure nik i wouldnt know what to look for couldnt even see a sensor in the front it just said point it at the rearview mirror..... seeing that you are online: do you know what service 1n01 means on the air con consul? hopefull ythis is just telling me there is no gas in the aircon as the previous owner emptied it at the end of last summer.....as he didnt use it during winter apparently it builds up some sort of bacteria in it otherwise.....

i have replaced batteries i get the the led to come on in the door when twisting key to right three times when i do the key combo the LED on the key stays on for 5 seconds then goes off but when i try to unlock the door using remote it doesnt work. anyone got any ideas the thought of paying ford

hi i bought my gal recently after looking on here dont know whether or not it should have had a red key...i have got a standard key and a 2 button remote key it opens the doors and starts engine when used in lock but no remote locking... have browsed through 60 pages here and have tried the way them anual says... put key in lock turn right 3 times take out and point at mirror scenario but it doesnt work anyone who can help it would be really appreciated...many thanks in advance

Hi first time here,can some-one tell me what the piston behind the brake pedal is for.... about a week ago it started making a whistling noise now if i press the pedal it still whistles a bit. and when you let go you can hear air hissing out i had a little inspection and noticed a really thin black rubber ring(gasket) that looked like it had broken what is this. please tell me what it is and roughly how much to fix.....could i do it?
