Rocker / Valve Cover Gasket

Hi,

Bit of a long shot this question. Replacing the rocker cover gasket and I have 10 small rubber washers included with the new gasket. Mr Hanyes suggests the old ones should be checked and renewed when replacing gasket, but I don't appear to have any currently so am baffled where they should go. I think they should be placed on the cover bolts prior to screwing back in place, but haven't been able to confirm this. Does anyone know (or if they have access to TIS, check?). Thanks in advance!

Car is a 2002 Mk II focus, 1.8 petrol.

Focus Stalling

Hi there,

I have a 1.8 Focus zetec on a 54 plate and for the last few days or so it stalls when i stop at a red light,at junctions and it seems like it wants to stall when I start the car. Now the engine management light has come on but then goes off after a while any ideas what could be causing this problem? thanks for any suggestions

Engine Management Light

Been away for a few weeks on holiday and when i returned and started the car the orange engine light stayed on.

Stopped and restarted the engine but it stayed on.

Took it for a drive and the light started to flicker and dim then went out.

Came on/off a few times then stayed off.

When you first start the car it is on and flickering (not flashing) then after driving for a bit it flickers then dims then goes out.

Not sure where to start so wondered if anyone has any ideas where to begin.

Not got any software to read focus fault codes but i do have vagcom for my galaxy.

Hello , wonder if anyone can help?

have a mk2 galaxy 2.3 ......and so the problem began....with a ticking from behind the fuse board , sourced ticking noise to a box which turned out to be a aftermarket central locking system that had been poorly spliced into power supply. I have removed the box and now have to lock the car by using the inernal safty lock located on the drivers door and then lock the drivers door with the key . ive tried connecting the box back up but doesnt work ? any ideas

Focus Cut Out And Wont Restart

Hi. Set off from home, got about 10 yards and the car cut out, felt like it stalled then wouldnt restart. The AA came, did all the usual checks, scratched his head, admitted defeat and took me took a garage. The mechanic has just phoned to tell me he is also scratching his head and is unable to find a fault, at this point. Anyone else suffered anything similar? I notice a similar thread on the KA section but there was no reply with an answer.

Mk2 Galaxy Central Locking Problem

Can anyone help us with this? Just repaired the tailgate to body wiring where it goes though the rubber gaitor. Now the central locking won't work.

Checked all fuses and seem ok. Anybody any ideas?

Cd Plays But No Sound?

Hi. A friend has a Focus Zetec (2005) with the standard CD (6000 model). Recently and without warning the CD stopped making 'sound'...it plays as normal, as if reading each track etc but no music from speakers. Tried everything....radio works fine....tried cleaner CD, panel off & on, different CDs etc....NOTHING!

Any help please would be appreciated, thanks! :)

Noise On Start Up

I've recently noticed a distinct rattle coming from the engine area on start up of a cold engine.( 1998 tdi 75 k )so put it for a service sill there all belts and tentioners changed last year.

Remote Key Problem

Hi There i have a 2000 mk1 focus zetec, we recently lost our remote key somewhere so we had to call out a locksmith!

after spending loads of money we now have 2 new keys, 1 remote and one standard!

Last week we found the lost key so i decided to reprogramme it and put it to use! i put a new battery in it first and then did the 1st key, 2nd key, 3rd key trick which worked, so i now i have 3 working keys woohoo!

the problem is when i tried to programme the key to be able to use the remote locking it worked but then the 1st key stopped working?? so i reprogrammed the 1st key and it worked and then the 2nd key stopped working??? basically i cant get both remote keys to work at the same time (not literally the same time, you know what i mean).

Im stumped can anyone please help :)

Engine Warning Light - Electrical Fault

I recently had a fault on the Focus (Mk3) where my sons feet knocked off one of the connectors on the bottom of the fusebox which disabled the outside temperature gauge, bonnet closed sensor and several other bits. I reconnected the connector and all is working again except it has left the engine managment light on. Is there a simple way to clear this light without paying a dealer?

I have VAG-COM and an X-Two lead for the Galaxy but this does not like the Focus and whilst the OBD-II test detects the module it is not compatible. I don't want to buy similar for the Focus again just for a simple light reset.

Central Locking Problem

Hi - I'm new to this forum and need to deperate help. My 1.8 Focus Ghia is doing this.

OUTSIDE THE CAR

1. Locking with the key in lock works fine

2. Locking with remotes 'bounces' locks/unlocks straight away.

INSIDE THE CAR

1. Locking the drivers door inside operates the locks fine.

2. Locking from passenger side bounces the locks again

3. This is the interesting part. If you lock the drivers door from the inside, and then with the remote put the deadlocks on, you can unlock the whole car from the driver's side. It deactivates the deadlocks and unlocks the car. This cannot be done from the passenger side though.

HELP...PLEASE!

Front Windshield Wipers Problem

Okay, today I was driving and it was heavy raining so I had the wipers on, but when the wipers got all the way up I heard this "click-ish" sound and they got stuck that way even when I pushed down on the control... so I pulled over and just pushed them down with my hands and tried it again, but they don't work at all. Also tried turning off the car and turning back on, without luck. But I do hear some sound when I try to put on the wipers, like there's some kind of metal or something rotating under there somewhere. So, what could be the problem?

English is not my first language, but I hope I was clear enough. Oh and I have A Ford Focus Ghia 1999 Sedan.

Rear Washer Leak Onto Parcel Shelf

I took my elderly mother in law out in her 53 Focus for a quick spin, and on trying to use the rear screen washer it promptly squirted water out through the trim at the top of the rear screen and onto the parcel shelf.

I don't want her to get ripped off at a Ford dealer, but on removing the trim it appears that the pipe runs inside the tailgate and I dont know where to start to try to find the leak.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Dam This Focus

my wife's focus 1.6 zetec 2006 petrol car, the revs keep jumping to sometimes over 2k, then sharply drop down to almost stalling, and some times it does actually stall. reading other forums i thought it might be the idle sensor, but when your driving at a constant speed, you can feel the car juddering, would that sensor do that too??? if it is that, do i need a new sensor, or would it other one just need removing and cleaning?

Abs Warning Light

I have a 53 plate focus ghia and have an abs warning light and the handbrake light permanately on. Does anyone have any ideas as to what would cause both these to stay on. The car drives fine.

Why Doesnt My Keycode Work?

I recently had to change my car battery so I lost all information stored for my radio. I have been trying to enter the keycode using the code provided with the manual but when I press 5 to confirm the code it give a me a 30 minute countdown, I have tried this 5 times now and keep getting the same response!!! Am I doing something wrong, could this be the wrong code? It is a 6000cd model if this helps.

Any ideas would be great.

Rain Sensors But No Auto Wiper Setting!?

I one particular problem of many on my 2003 Ford Focus 1.8 tdci Zetec. The rain sensors are blatently there but no auto on the stalk!! How stupid is that!

Any way to get the wiper stalk to communicate with the rain sensors? I noticed you a Mondeo owner managed to sort this problem but can not find out from him.

Fuel Pump Diesel

I have a 2000 focus diesel (endura). The engine suddenly stopped and the glowplug light came on for a few seconds.

It seems like the fuel pump has gone. How do i test that it is working, and is there anything else that would stop it pulling fuel. I can manually pump fuel up to the filter so i know there is no blockage from the tank.

I have a 2001 focus and I want to fit my own remote system to car all wires are sorted but trying to find the the wire that locks and the one that closes on locking system.

I have had a look at the central locking module on driver side under dash to see which one it is, any help to save me freezing while testing all wires to find them.

Help Pulsating Clutch

Next door neighbour has a 04 1.8tdci estate and today the clutch has been juddering, this happens in all gears including neutral and at any speed, the problem is intermitttent and last from a few seconds to several minutes, there is no difficulty changing gear or taking up drive.

I'm thinking flywheel possibly or possibly servo.

Any suggestions are most welcome

Handbrake Adjustment - How?

Not having a haynes manual for the car (52 1.6 focus) I need to know how to take up the slack in the handbrake as it needs about 8 clicks until it holds on. If it auto adjusters in the drum, what a pig it looks to be to get the drum off. 4 thin nuts ! Is there a how to section anywhere?

All advise, procedures gratefully accepted.
