anadin Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 agree with bigrupe , if you have eliminated the maf and vacuum hoses, and your turbo kicks in on the flat , its hard to diagnose from here but it sounds like your boost pressure, i'd be inclined to give it some injector cleaner, check air filter , but then maybe get a engine diagnostics before you start changing expensive items, this may pinpiont the fault Quote

Change your air filter if its not been changed recently 2. Was the "new" MAF sensor new? i.e. Is it the correct type bought from a dealer or did you buy off Ebay  - that could be a "cleaned up" old MAF that is still duff. 3. Change your vacuum hoses - dont look at them. Quote

Guest jeffie37 Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 (edited) hi guys i am running a galaxt tdi 2001,recently lost power on hills i changed the maf sencor its got better :Dbut still wont pull on hills 50mph checked the vacum hoses all look ok any ideas, spacecowboy hello mate it's not the MFA sensor it's the airflow metre. Infact most people dont lknow if you disconnect the airflow metre the car wil run and 100% faster !! location is simple- under the bonet on your left look at the airfilter you will see a small connection that comes out of it ..send me an email i will send you a picture if its confusing.. once you disconnect it you wil be overwhelmed with the new power your car hads to sprint up hills and from 0-60 you will now be king on the road.unfortunetly you wil have to replace eventually and this silly little piece of plastic that you can change yourself will cost Edited September 19, 2006 by mumof4 Quote

mumof4 Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Can i just say that yes we know that if the MAF is duff that the car will run better with it unplugged, and that yes we know it will have to be replaced. We also know that the prices you quoted are wrong. How do I know this?????..because i changed mine...and it only cost me Quote

Have a look at this thread. Quote

NikpV Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 possibly the ecu is assuming a default value which is better than the actual value from this possibly faulty sensor Quote
