mint Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Hello again people. Well I've just replaced the heater matrix (2 days) and now i've noticed a small leak that i can only assume is from the water pump (fns of gal). Will it never end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've searched the forum but can't find anything on the V6 re water pump change. Has anyone changed one or know how to. Thanks in advance. Ps its a MK1 2.8. Quote
sepulchrave Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Never changed the water pump, and you don't need to either! It's the thermostat housing if it's N/S front. ...Oh, and no it will never end BTW. Quote
mint Posted September 13, 2006 Author Report Posted September 13, 2006 Sorry Sepulchrave, its the O/S. Brain gone into meltdown over the 2 days! Quote
Guest Grubber Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 If it's the same layout as the 1.9tdi LX model its tricky enough ........ engine mounting has to come off ........ engine has to be supported .........and when your in there you might as well change the Timeing belt or cam belt not sure what you's call them as the water pump on the 1.9 tdi is bang smack in the middle of that ........... i did it along with my garage man (very good friend too!!) and it took us 5 hours .......... good luck with it on your own......... mint Posted September 13, 2006 Author Report Posted September 13, 2006 The V6 is chain driven so no cam belt. Hope i dont have to drop the engine mounts etc!! Quote
Vanbursta Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 The V6 is chain driven, but the chains are at the REAR of the engine, whilst the water pump is at the front, it is driven by the auxilary drive belt and is easy to remove. The full instructions are attached below, should be easily done within a day. Galaxy_V6_Water_pump.pdf Quote
mint Posted September 13, 2006 Author Report Posted September 13, 2006 Thanks Vanbursta, the jobs still a pain in the A*** though. Heater matrix one day, water pump the next and then the central locking ecu AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Quote
anadin Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 ooops thats what happens when us dsl drivers get involved, hows the mpg :) ;) Quote
Vanbursta Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Yes but just think of the fun you will have fixing it all, then when it's all done and you decide you've had enough and sell it, the next owner thinks "brilliant car this - absolutely nothing wrong with it" :-) I know it feels bad but you will really enjoy the car once you have everything sorted, at least there are people on here who can help, so you are not alone with your troubles! Good Luck Quote
