Guest smithsa Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Hi everyone,Just replaced the original battery on my 96 2.0 - not bad especially considering we spent some time in Norway in winter. Anyhow when I reconnected the new battery the odometer and trip meter read km. My mother in law has an S reg 1.9 TDI and had the same problem but it was reset by a garage. I'm too tight to pay them - anyone know if there's a way to reset to miles?CheersItsase A Treally Quote
johnb80 Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Perhaps it was a foreign battery ???? Not certain on the Galaxy but on other Ford models if you hold the trip reset in (10 secs ?) it changes over between metric and imperial. Caio - JB Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Be careful - on some versions, this resets the service interval calculating bit of the computer (if fitted). Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Back to the garage. Needs VAG COM or WDS to reset. Quote
iainkirk Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 The "service interval calculating" bit simply displays the "need" to service the vehicle every 5000kms doesn't it (according to the handbook)? The handbook tells you how to reset it as well.... Quote
Guest EVSS Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 hi, disconect battery, get a assistant to press and hold the trip button in on dash, reconnect the battery, and about 13 to 15 seconds later realease trip button and it will read miles again,or vice-versa if you want kilometers.we work on these pods all the time at work.gary Quote
ALARM MAN Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 Also try holding reset button on odometer when turning on ignition does this on the Vectra Quote
