keith9534 Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 We have a 1996 Galaxy Tdi. We have been told that we need an infra red type key due to the year of manufacture. Can anyone tell me what shows the difference on the keys? Keep seeing posts about the 433mhz frequency.......is this still marked on an infra red type key? Quote
NikpV Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 433Mhz refers to radio frequency based remotes, if any spec would be stated re IrD then it would be the wavelength e.g. 880nm (nanometers) but they are pretty standard I think early remotes use Infra red light to transmit the code, post 97 models use the radio frequency to transmit the code - if you have domes near the rear-view mirror and in the roof near the tailgate then you have the IrD type.
