chauf4 Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Well I'm glad to say mine fired up fine this morning :) Was getting a bit worried by it not making an appearance over the last few days but it obviously thought it was not cold enough yet. Having said that, without having seen this thread I would have been one of those wondering what on earth that jet engine sound was and where it was coming from as I am very new to the galaxy. Quote
jwilliams Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Mine fired up to hurrah! I feared mine to be dead or maimed but obviuosly it needs to be a bit colder for some of them to wake up. I was alarmed at first as it did not fire up when the car was idleing while the heated screen did its thing, it was only when I increased the revs that it started. Quote
ade Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 The little light on the button doesn't glow anymore ....does that mean a fuse has gone?? Quote

ade Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Sorry for the lack of info... Gal R '97 Tdi 110 Ghia. Heater worked for a bit last year then nothing. My vag com wont talk to it so i dont know if i am getting a flame out error, but i will just disconnect the battery overnight to clear that. Also does anyone know where to get replacement screw as i have had to drill out all of mine... Quote
Guest VR6! Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 The little light on the button doesn't glow anymore ....does that mean a fuse has gone?? I take it your referring to the rear cabin heater control button on the dash next to the radio? if so, set the rear fan speed to max, press the button and see if the fan cuts in? if it does then the switch illumination has failed for some reason but the switch is still operating Quote
g4hlf Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 how do you fit a mini fuse and test the booster heater in 10+ deg C. I have face-lifted X reg 1.9 SHaran TDi.I tried looking for a sensor ner the pasanger wiper arm under the bonnet and could not see anu sensor of any descript. Many thanksDal no help but one day I'll try and take a picture of this little b*gg*r :( :D Could you get the part number off it at the same time please! Quote
GaryM Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 Ordered my replacement plug off Martin yesterday Quote
Guest gooner52 Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 can you take a pic of the uprated plug when it comes cheers m8  Quote
tim-spam Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 The one from Martin was a replacement Beur 0 100 226 340 instead of the 0 100 226 228 that I had. On closer inspection the old part number was there on the new plug underneath the new laser etched new part number. So does that mean that the replacement you have is not the new uprated one at all, but old stock with the new part number superimposed over the old part number? Quote
GaryM Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 So does that mean that the replacement you have is not the new uprated one at all, but old stock with the new part number superimposed over the old part number? To be fair the plug I ordered is simply a replacement as far as I can tell. And because it is laser etched, I guess it is a genuine Beur part for which they have changed the part numbering. If you look up the old part number on thier site it does not flag. I don't know if there is any change in specification that comes with the new part number. When I visited Frauds they could not find a part number for the glowplug alone. The nearest item was a glowplug kit that had leads hanging of it. That was Quote
