:o Sorry for being a complete numpty, but where is the aux heater ? & can the glowplug be changed easily on the driveway.

Mine worked for a while in Jan / Feb then stopped working - no sign of life yet, does anyone know how i can test it ?

Thanks in advance

Interesting - replaced the glowplug last year with upgraded type (couldn't get from Fords at that time, went through a company in midlands somewhere who got them direct from BERU looked just like the original as pictured here

anybody got a picture of the 'Ford' upgraded one

as it turns out my problem was a loose connection (live and earth are on the same connector) so the plug pictured above is a working one

should of took a pic before it was put in

thats the same as the one that came out

the new ford one is not as big

and as 2 wires coming from the glowplug,

'which go straight into the multi plug,

but you need to remove the old wires first

makes a very neat tidy job

the 340 beru is the new upgraded plug that use to end in 228 dont know what they did , it seems to do the job ok i too would like to know what ford have been up to with this, could it just be cosmetic , if its got permanent wires in it do we know if it makes it any better performing.

It appears that it depends on the fault - certainly glowplug open circuit faults didn't need clearing - once the circuit was complete the aux heater fired up no problem, IIRC flame out faults have to be cleared before the heater will fire up again if it gets to the 5(or 3)limit and it never tries starting up.

isnt white smoke usually to do with condensation or moisture in the exhaust system?

G, does the white smoke go after a little while?
