I tried the mini fuse on my mk2 alhambra but it has different connections to the mk1 so won't fit. I had to use a thin piece of wire - and it works!!

And Q us gas guzzlers with 2000 posts gettng our own back for the 45mpg ....

I have no booster heater, nor ALL the complications and costs that come with them. My car is lovely and warm in the winter. I have no smoke from the wheel arch. Enjoy your diesel (economical *bleeps* lol)

Errmm maybe I'm wrong but I thought the BOOSTER heater was the one fitted to the cars cooling system, and the AUXILARY heater was an extra heater that runs on diesel (and hence is only fitted to diesels), or am I incorrect?

So...booster is not same as Aux heater????..that little exhaust thingy under the car is the aux yes???...that needs a glow plug...wheres the booster heater then?

The booster heater has a glow plug and exhaust, and the auxiliary heater contains engine coolant and is used to heat the rear of the passenger compartment.

My booster heater fired up this morning as it always has on cold mornings.

Right then let me explain about my booster heater and then you fine people can tell me if it's bollocksed :D   i have had the car since may and recently found the wire to booster had been disconnected so i have reconnected ,having read this thread i am under the impression that once the ambient temp is 10c the booster heater should kick in , well this morning it was 10c and nothing , now is it faulty do you think or does it need to be a bit lower temp for the heater to kick in :) any advice will be greatfully accepted and before anyone says use the search i already have and have not got the time nor the patience to read 17 pages on the booster heater in the faq section  :D :D

kick in temp does seem to vary - read some reports of as low as 5C up to 15C  as for the disconnected wire - possibly it has smoked (older type glowplug) in the past and rather than sort it someone just removed the wire

We had an unusually cold morning the other week, and it fired up fine, just like last year.
